Merry Christmas Everyone! Despite the festivities the horses still need to go out and consequently there is a skeleton staff on hand today to make sure they are tended to, fed, watered and exercised. Many thanks to them for their dedication and the remainder of the team for their hard work throughout the year. Just a little something brief for today – I have put together a few little games, a short quiz and some anagrams below for you to have a crack at over the festive period! The answers will be revealed on Thursday 28th December so everyone’s got chance to have a go over the next coming days! (Although I must state, no prizes unfortunately just a little bit of fun)  Once again, I wish you all a happy Christmas whatever you are up to and wherever you are in the world and look forward to some great racing on Boxing Day!

We have made it to Christmas Eve and Gerry Supple’s birthday!  No racing today but we have made the declarations for Boxing Day where we don’t have lots of runners but they are spread around four different meetings.  We have Stray Bullet running on the flat at Wolverhampton, Via Dante travelling to Market Rasen, two runners at Wincanton and three runners at Fontwell.  Duc De Beauchene and Kingofthewest both run at Wincanton and Jack Tudor heads to ride these and plenty of others as well.  Behind The Curtain, Makanao and Paricolor make up our trio of runners at Fontwell and Gearoid Harney goes there to ride all of these.  David Noonan rides Via Dante at Market Rasen and we are using promising young apprentice Jack Enright claiming seven pounds on board Stray Bullet.  Check back here on Boxing Day for more news ahead of the days runners.

Make Me A Believer runs today at Ascot!

Today we have two runners at Ascot, Eden Du Houx and Make Me A Believer.  Eden Du Houx runs in the 1.50pm handicap chase over 2m3f and Jack Tudor rides.  This is his first run of the season and even though he would prefer the ground to be softer, fresh could be the best time to catch him.  There are only seven runners but it is a competitive little race and we are about 9/1 in the betting.  It is fair to say on his day, Eden is very talented but his form figures suggest he is either very good or can be disappointing.  He is in good form at home and everything should be in his favour probably bar the ground but hopefully he can be involved in the finish.

It is a blank day for us runners wise but there are two jumps meetings at Ascot and Uttoxeter.  There are two all-weather meetings at Southwell and Wolverhampton and in Ireland they have a flat meeting at Dundalk.  Yesterday at Exeter unfortunately Sidi Ismael made a bad mistake at one of the fences and pulled up.  Jack thought he wasn’t moving right after the error so wisely pulled him up and he returned with a nasty little cut where he knocked into himself.  Thankfully he doesn’t seem too bad this morning and he can hopefully have a change of luck on his next outing.

Ocean Heights after winning last night!
It was great to get a nice and deserved win for Ocean Heights at Kempton last night.  Our six year old had run well in his first two handicap starts to be third and second when losing his position a mid-race and staying on strongly at the finish.  This time he held a handy position throughout, pulled out and got a nice run from turning in and galloped on strongly.  A rival did get close to challenge inside the final furlong but I think our boy was idling a little and he pulled out a bit more under a good ride from Aiden Brookes.  I imagine we will see what the handicapper does next week and then look for a similar race back at the track again next time.

Today we have a runner under each code, Itseemslikeit over hurdles at Newbury and Ocean Heights on the flat at Kempton.  Itseemslikeit runs in the 2.35pm EBF novices hurdle over 2m4f and Jack Tudor rides.  He was impressive in winning at Ffos las on hurdling debut last time but has to step up again this afternoon as it looks a very competitive event.  Our four year old is a gorgeous big son of Black Sam Bellamy and he is definitely one for the future but has impressed with both his attitude and athleticism to date.  We will find out even more about him today but the track and ground will suit and it was be interesting to see how he fares against some useful looking rivals this afternoon.

Today we have the one runner at Wincanton, Ya Know Yaseff.  She runs in the opening race on the card, a three mile handicap chase for conditional jockeys at 12.20pm and Gearoid Harney rides.  She is a two-time winner over fences already this season and hopefully she can add a third victory this afternoon.  We ran her over 2m4f last time at Lingfield, a trip shorter than ideal, to get her qualified for the mares chase final at Hereford.  That race took place at the weekend but unfortunately we were just a little too far out of the weights to be able to run so she comes here instead and will prefer the return to three miles.  There are 11 runners and we are 5/1 second best in the betting.
