                    Micronormous (IRE)

Micronormous (IRE)
2018 Bay Filly
By Walk In The Park (IRE)
Ex Foxy Lauren (IRE)
By Old Vic

Micronormous is a brand new addition to the team and came highly recommended from the Doncaster Sales.

She has contested just one point-to-point in Ireland, showing great potential in finishing a close third in a mares’ contest at Ballyknock, being beaten less than four lengths.  Irish pointing experts p2p.ie said, “She hit the line a close third behind the talented Love At Sea who was since sold for £70,000 while the runner up Goodtimecrew realised £135,000 so the market has already pinpointed this as a maiden of the highest level.”
Indeed, Love At Sea has gone on to finish a narrowly beaten runner-up in an Irish bumper on her first start under rules.

By fantastic NH sire Walk In The Park, who is responsible for top jumpers, Douvan, Min and Jonbon to name but a few, Micronormous looks an excellent value purchase at £40,000 + VAT and expenses.

                              Hory (FR)

Hory (FR)

2017 brown gelding
By: Crossharbour
Ex: Tempete d’Ory (FR)
By: Oliviero (FR)

Hory joined us from the Cheltenham Sales at the end of April, having already attained a good level of form in Ireland, notably when a gutsy winner of a Fairyhouse maiden hurdle on yielding ground a few weeks previous.  There he showed an excellent attitude to run down high-class bumper winner and odds-on favourite, Level Neverending on just his fourth start over hurdles.

Likely to be rated around 130 over hurdles in this country; it is not every day you can purchase a horse with that proven level of ability for £35,000, so he looks a very good buy.

By Crossharbour, out of bumper and chase winning mare, Tempete d’Ory, Hory is a nice, big, attractive gelding, standing 16.2hh.  He has pleased me in all that he has done since arriving at Pond House, is fit and ready to run and will be contesting races over hurdles shortly, whilst he has the size and scope to jump fences in time.

                      Cadeau d'Or (FR)

Cadeau d'Or (FR)
2017 Chestnut Gelding
By Le Havre (IRE)
Ex Hill Of Grace
By Desert Prince (IRE)

Quarter shares available!  Your chance to get involved with this exciting hurdling prospect from only £15,000 +VAT.

We bought Cadeau d'Or from the October Horses in Training Sales at Newmarket and he has been pleasing us at home.  He has schooled well and will be a great dual purpose horse and is fit and ready to run.  Indeed, he posted a very promising first effort over hurdles when third behind a couple of highly-rated types at Newton Abbot on his hurdling debut, which bodes very well for his future.

As you will see from the photograph above, he is a handsome four year old chestnut gelding with plenty of size about him, standing 16.3¼hh.  By Le Havre, out of Hill of Grace (a winner on the flat as a two-year old), Cadeau d’Or is a half-brother to Grace Of Dubai, who was a 1m2f winner in France and Listed placed over 1m4f.

Versatile with regard to ground, Cadeau d’Or has won on good going and finished placed on soft, whilst he has a nice mix of speed and stamina, winning over 1m2f and finishing runner-up over 1m6f as a three-year old.  He was still travelling notably well last time out at Yarmouth on 11th October when clipping heels and unseating his rider.  You will find below a link to his form:

                               Kalma

Kalma
2018 Bay Filly
By Mukhadram
Ex Peters Spirit (IRE)
By Invincible Spirit (IRE)

I am pleased to offer Kalma, an attractive four-year-old filly who could make up into a decent dual-purpose performer during the coming months.

A winner twice on the flat, she finished third at Ascot on her most recent outing on 7th May and had won on her penultimate start over hurdles at Exeter in April, displaying a very likeable attitude.  An improving and progressive type, she could rate higher yet and is fit and ready to run.

By Mukhadram, who has done well with his first few crops over jumps, Kalma is a half-sister to Madame Ellingtina, who was a winner in the UAE.

Looks excellent value at £25,000+VAT and expenses and can run straight away.

Moodofthemoment (IRE)
2017 Chestnut Gelding
By Shantou (USA)
Ex Mood I’m In (GER)
By Saddlers’ Hall (IRE)

Moodofthemoment is another recruit from the Irish point-to-point field, who produced an excellent performance when winning the last of his four starts at Stowlin on 1st May.  Indeed, p2p.ie were impressed, saying, “ Setting a good tempo from flag fall, he jumped and travelled notably well throughout so much so that there was only a single rival that was able to go with him from four out.  Although he was left clear from two out, it's worth recalling just how tired the vast majority of his rivals were from some way out here, indicative of a good gallop from flag fall. This was a definite career best…and this is a decent race to assess him on.”

The horse that was upsides when falling that day subsequently sold for £130,000, making this fellow look an extremely good buy.  Jockey Harley Dunne was very impressed by Moodofthemoment and felt that he would have won anyway.

A handsome son of leading jumps sire, Shantou, with a good bit of size about him (standing 16.3hh), he is from a good family and is a half-brother to Irish winners In Great Form and Cordovan.

               Lock Out (IRE)  - SOLD

Lock Out (IRE)
2017 Bay Gelding
By Watar (IRE)
Ex Swift And Late (IRE)
By Saddlers’ Hall (IRE)

Lock Out went through the sales ring at Doncaster unsold for £28,000 but was subsequently purchased privately by my wife, Leanne for £20,000 and I have to say that she has done very well!

The winner of the second of his two points on 14th May, when scoring nicely by 5 lengths at Punchestown point-to-point course, p2p.ie said of the performance, “He was sent straight to the front and was game throughout to hold off all challengers especially the persistent runner-up and favourite. This was a very likeable effort and he can now go on to make an impact over intermediate distances on the track.”

A well-made five-year-old gelding, standing 16.2hh, he descends from a family that includes great racemare, LADY CRICKET who was a top-class chaser for my father, as well as the dam of RED SHERLOCK, SWING BOWLER and CRICKET BOY.

                          Jet Smart (IRE)

Jet Smart (IRE)
2018 Chestnut Gelding
By Jet Away
Ex Cherry Island (IRE)
By Exit To Nowhere (USA)

I bought Jet Smart from the sales ring at Aintree in April following a debut effort full of promise when runner-up in a Lisronagh point-to-point at the end of March.  There he was beaten only two lengths by Act Of Authority, who subsequently went through the same sales ring for £200,000.  Meanwhile, the third home, Fortunate Soldier has won since and made €200,000 through the ring, making the £80,000 price tag for Jet Smart look exceptional value.  Irish pointing website, p2p.ie summed up his debut performance by saying this was, “an excellent start to the chesnut's career and he should easily atone before making a telling mark on the racetrack.”

A handsome four year old gelding, by up and coming sire Jet Away, he has a good bit of size about him, standing at 16.2hh.  He is a full-brother to bumper winner Copper Cove, whilst the dam, Cherry Island is a half-sister to Grade 2 placed chaser, Crescent Island.

Jet Smart looks an exciting type for the season ahead.  He will probably start in bumpers, but is very much a chaser in the making.

                     Tango Arumba (IRE)

Tango Arumba (IRE) - SOLD
2017 bay mare
By: Shantou (USA)
Ex: Thricha (IRE)
By: Saffron Walden

I purchased Tango Arumba at the Cheltenham Sales on the back of her impressive racecourse debut in an Irish point-to-point at Tattersalls Farm in April.  She bolted up in a mares’ maiden on good ground and that excellent impression was confirmed by Irish pointing experts p2p.ie, who were effusive in their praise for her.  “TANGO ARUMBA (IRE) looks a very decent mare who made all here and quickened very smartly when asked before the home turn. She is by Shantou and looked thoroughly uncomplicated here on debut so could be a mare to contest for black type when she progresses to the track. A very encouraging debut.”

Bred in the purple NH super-sire, Shantou, who was the sire of my Cheltenham Festival winner, BALLYNAGOUR, his dam Thricha is an unraced daughter of Saffron Walden, who was responsible for my Champion Bumper winner, MOON RACER.

A beautifully proportioned mare, she looks a lovely prospect for racing under rules and will likely start out in bumpers this season.
