What a fabulous training performance from David to get Champers On Ice back to the winners' enclosure for the first time in almost three years when running out a comfortable winner of the staying handicap hurdle at Ffos Las yesterday afternoon. Making all the running under Tom Scudamore, he kept finding more to win by 3¼ lengths, conceding 9lbs to the runner-up. It wasn't his finest round of jumping so hopefully there will be further improvement there and he can go on from here. Delface also performed with credit when third in the conditional jockeys' handicap hurdle to finish third - he will be suited by a stiffer test of stamina.

Rathlin Rose runs at his favourite Sandown
There are two jumps meetings today at Ffos Las and Sandown and there is also jumps racing in Ireland at Navan. David has three runners, Champers on Ice and Delface at Ffos Las and Rathlin Rose at Sandown. Champers on Ice runs in the 3.05pm handicap hurdle over three miles with Tom Scu on board. He will love all the rain that falls at the track and is in good form at home. He only had two runs last season and returned from injury to finish a good fourth at Haydock and while he pulled up at the Cheltenham Festival the ground was not soft enough. He is nine years old but does not have many miles on the clock and certainly retains his ability that saw him finish third in the Albert Bartlett a few years ago. It is a good starting point for him this season and we are hopeful of a good run.

First Lord Du Cuet runs at Wincanton
There is racing from over jumps from Aintree, Kelso and Wincanton today and David has one runner at Wincanton, First Lord Du Cuet. He runs in the first race 12.40pm a novice hurdle over 1m7f and David Noonan rides. It is his first start over hurdles but he was runner up on his stable debut in a bumper at Taunton before going one place better next time at Plumpton in March. He is also a an Irish point to point winner who has schooled well at home and although it looks a competitive race on paper he is a nice youngster and we hope he should run well. There is extra pressure for David as he is owned by Mr Potter, his father and father in law to be also!!

Daklondike ran an absolute cracker to finish runner-up at Newbury yesterday afternoon on his first hurdles start since April 2017. We did say that he had the ability to be involved and I hope that a few of you were on at big odds - he even touched 66/1 before being returned at 40's which seems ludicrous given his latent ability. Anyway, this was a lovely pipe-opener for the new season and he looks sure to be winning races this term over hurdles or fences based on this evidence. He holds an entry in the Ladbroke Chase (formerly the Hennessy) at Newbury next month.

There was another impressive winner for the stable when Kepagge absolutely bolted up in the bumper at Chepstow yesterday afternoon. Making all the running under Tom Scudamore, he quickened it up early in the straight and the race was never in doubt after that. He would have gone close in an Irish point-to-point on his only previous start but for a fall at the last so he will clearly relish a greater test and obstacles in time and rates another smart prospect for the yard. David has some very nice youngsters on his hands and hopefully you will be hearing plenty more of this chap.

There are five meetings taking place this morning with jumps cards from Musselburgh and Chepstow supported by flat action from Nottingham, Kempton and Wolverhampton. There are three runners from Pond House today; Jasmin des Bordes, Into The Woods and Kepagge (pictured above). Jasmin des Bordes contests the 2m7½f handicap hurdle at 2.40pm. A former Irish point-to-pointer, he has some solid pieces of placed form to his name (including at this course) and will certainly appreciate a bit of cut underfoot. He made a decent seasonal reappearance at Worcester (the second has franked the form since) and looks as though this trip should suit. He should go well under Tom Scudamore.

Following the abandonment of Redcar earlier in the week due to waterlogging we are left with three meetings on these shores. The action comes from Exeter over the sticks, whilst there are all-weather flat cards from Southwell and Kempton. It is Exeter's big meeting of the season with the Haldon Gold Cup the highlight. David has four runners at Exeter today; Dell' Arca (pictured above), Queen Adelaide, Airton & Buster Edwards.
