First Lord Du Cuet runs at Wincanton

There is racing from over jumps from Aintree, Kelso and Wincanton today and David has one runner at Wincanton, First Lord Du Cuet.  He runs in the first race 12.40pm a novice hurdle over 1m7f and David Noonan rides.  It is his first start over hurdles but he was runner up on his stable debut in a bumper at Taunton before going one place better next time at Plumpton in March.  He is also a an Irish point to point winner who has schooled well at home and although it looks a competitive race on paper he is a nice youngster and we hope he should run well.  There is extra pressure for David as he is owned by Mr Potter, his father and father in law to be also!!

Meep Meep Mag ran well to finish third at Warwick yesterday in the bumper.  She will appreciate hurdles and a step up in distance being an Irish point to point winner and won’t mind the ground even softer in the future.  She traveled nicely through the race and kept galloping all the way to the line to finish third.  I am pleased to report she is fine this morning and we look forward to schooling her and getting her out on the track again soon.

Unfortunately the final turf flat fixture of the year at Doncaster today has been lost due to water-logging but there are some cracking races in prospect at both Wincanton and Aintree this afternoon.  We have the Badger Ales handicap chase and the Elite hurdle and while we don’t have any representatives in those races this afternoon they are races we have done well in in the past.  Martin won the race with Iris Bleu in 2004 and David has won the race three times, with Abragante, The Package and Standing Ovation.  Present Man is going for a hat-trick of victories in the race this afternoon and I would not bet against him doing it with Bryony Frost in the saddle.  The Elite hurdle has had four winners trained by Pond House, Valfinet, Pridwell, Wahiba Sands and Well Chief.  Fusil Raffles is a warm favourite for the race for the Henderson team and looks difficult to oppose.

In football the big game of the weekend is of course tomorrow with Liverpool against Man City but there are some good games today as well in the Premiership.  In the early kick off Chelsea are at home to Crystal Palace while at 5.30pm Leicester host Arsenal.  Leicester are in good form at the moment and should beat the Gunners.

I’m learning the hokey cokey.  Not all of it.  But “I’ve got the ins and outs”!!
