What an amazing weekend for the yard with an across the card double at Cheltenham and Hereford on Saturday. Warthog (pictured above) was a brave winner of the feature Caspian Caviar Gold Cup at Cheltenham under an inspired ride from David Noonan, whilst Buster Edwards was a ready winner of the staying handicap hurdle at Hereford under Nick Scholfield. With Eamon An Cnoic finishing second, Stream Lady third (in the valuable mares' final at Hereford) and Queens Cave fifth, all five of our runners over the weekend picked up prize money. The double moved us onto 45 winners for the season, already surpassing last season's total...and it is not even Christmas yet!

There are hopefully two meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps action coming from Carlisle and Southwell. Having said that, Southwell will need to pass an early morning inspection for their meeting to go ahead. They were due some heavy showers last night, but with a brighter day forecast, let's hope that it goes ahead. The ground is unsurprisingly described as heavy, so make sure that if you are thinking of having a wager, your selection will like the mud!

There is a busy day ahead with jumps meetings from Cheltenham, Doncaster and Hereford, as well as a couple of all-weather flat cards from Newcastle and Wolverhampton. David has five runners today; three at Cheltenham and two at Hereford. At Cheltenham we run Eamon An Cnoic, Warthog and Queens Cave and at Hereford Stream Lady and Buster Edwards represent the Pond House team.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards from Cheltenham, Doncaster and Bangor, whilst there is an all-weather flat card from Chelmsford City. It is the first of the two day International meeting from Cheltenham and David has three runners; Nordic Combined, What A Moment and Champers On Ice (pictured above). Given all the rain we have had over the last few weeks it seems incredible that the ground is only good/soft.

The stable was among the winners again yesterday when Kepagge duly made a winning hurdling debut in the 2m4f novices' hurdle at Leicester. The race did not go by without incident however, with Kepagge slipping into the first hurdle before making a terrible mistake at the second which Tom Scudamore did very well to sit. He wasn't aided by the dawdling early pace but still had more than enough latent ability to put those errors behind him to win a shade cosily. He had schooled very well at home so we know that he can jump. He will be suited by a stronger pace next time and remains an exciting prospect.

Following an early morning inspection the meeting at Leicester goes ahead meaning that there are five meetings taking place this afternoon with jumps cards at Hexham and Leicester supported by all-weather flat cards from Lingfield, Chelmsford City and Kempton. David has one runner today as Kepagge (pictured above) contests the 2m4½f novices' hurdle at Leicester at 3.00pm. He made a very good impression on his debut for the stable when bolting up in a Chepstow bumper on soft ground last month and he has schooled well ahead of his hurdling debut. This represents a step-up in trip, although it should not present a problem as he was still in with every chance when capsizing at the last in an Irish point over three miles and he has plenty of stamina in his pedigree. He looks to be a really nice prospect and has outstanding claims under Tom Scu, although you won't get rich backing him.

There are two jumps meetings today at Fontwell and Uttoxeter plus a flat card at Wolverhampton. There is also racing in Ireland over jumps at Tramore. David does not have any runners today but Tom Scu and David Noonan are both in action. Back at the yard it is all systems go as usual with fairly high winds and a bit of rain it is not the nicest of mornings to be riding out but it is not too bad in the office! We have a great team of staff here at Pond House and most have smile on their faces whatever the weather, come rain or shine the work has got to be done and there is a good team moral. We have the staff Christmas party on Thursday evening and while a good time will be had by all everyone will be up bright and early on Friday morning to carry out the usual routine and we are likely to have a few runners at Cheltenham as well.
