Has Tom Scudamore really moved up north?!  His whistlestop tour of the north of the country see him taking three rides for the stable at Doncaster this afternoon.  He will be aboard Presenting Ace, Faasel and Decoy, while over at Ludlow we run Swing Bowler and Beattie Green who will be partnered by Timmy Murphy.  Faasel has been a wonderful servant down the years and has twice finished runner-up at the Cheltenham Festival since joining us as well as finishing second in the Bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown - he participates in a veteran's chase this afternoon and they really are great opportunities for these old campaigners to win another nice prize.

The stable has runners at Taunton and Wetherby this afternoon.  Clever Dick and Unex Degas participate at our local track and will be ridden by Paddy Brennan and Conor O'Farrell respectively, while Tom Scudamore makes the long trip up to Wetherby to ride Moose Moran and Alderluck.  Tom has been spending so much time up north lately (Ayr, Catterick, Carlisle and now Wetherby) that he will soon be speaking with a northern accent!

It was another good weekend for the yard with a couple of winners on Saturday and a winner with our only runner at Market Rasen on Sunday.  Massini's Maguire put up a wonderful performance at Ascot in the very competitive handicap chase - he clearly loves the track having now won there on three of his four appearances.  It was a good training performance from David too, the horse has had no end of problems throughout the years but keeps coming back and he has now won on two of his three starts since joining the yard.

We have just the one runner this afternoon at Market Rasen, talented ex-flat stayer Fiulin who makes his debut for the yard in the novices' hurdle at 1.40pm - he will be ridden by Tom Scudamore.  I was able to catch him on the gallops earlier in the week when he was working upsides Terfel's Toscar.

It looks like being a busy day with the stable having no fewer than nine runners this afternoon at Wincanton,  Haydock and Ascot.  It would be nice if Waterunder could score at Wincanton for his owners Wayne and Sarah Clifford who are sponsoring the race through their Bathwick Tyres brand.  They are wonderful supporters of racing in this country and deserve every success - they are sponsoring no fewer than seven races this afternoon at Wincanton and without support like this a number of racecourses would struggle.  My wife tells me she likes the sound of Waterunder and Water Garden from the stable this afternoon - who needs a form book?!  The ultra-consistent I'msingingtheblues takes his chance in the eight runner Grade One Betfair Chase and with prizemoney down to sixth place, let's hope that it's another good payday for this amazing Saturday horse.

There is a great day of jump racing action ahead of us with top quality cards at Newbury and Sandown.  It's like London bus syndrome - you wait for ages to get some decent racing on and then two meetings come along at once (and on a Friday to boot!).  We have six runners at Newbury - I'm So Lucky, Presenting Ace, Taratata Sivola, Junior, Buena Vista and Gevrey Chambertin, while over at Ascot Diamond's Return, Dukes Art, Spirit Of Barbados and Bathwick Brave do duty for the yard.  It should certainly be an informative afternoon and I will be fascinated to see how Grand National favourite Junior gets on, this reappearance over hurdles should certainly sharpen him up, while Grands Crus' full brother Gevrey Chambertin won with plenty in hand on his racecourse debut last time at Ffos Las and it will be interesting to see how he gets on in a better race.

We have been enjoying the slightly milder weather over the last few days and I am pleased to be able to bring you some nice photographs from the gallops.  Ante-post Grand National favourite Junior is pictured as he is put through his paces alongside decent ex-flat stayer and winning hurdler Ashbrittle.  Junior makes his long awaited seasonal reappearance in a handicap hurdle at Newbury tomorrow.  Also in action were The Pier and Painter Man, who both hold upcoming engagements - weather permitting of course!
