Today we have five meetings, four on the flat at Newbury, Nottingham, Yarmouth and Haydock and a jumps card at Uttoxeter.  David has two runners at Uttoxeter this evening, Intermath and Star of Salford.  Intermath won as a two year old and is having his first try over hurdles in only the second Juvenile hurdle race of the season.  His best form seems to be about over a mile on the flat, so does have to prove that he can stay but there is some hope from his pedigree.  He has not been in the yard long but has done lots of schooling and seems to have taken to the job very well.  He is 4/1 second favourite in the Post and looks to have a chance in what does not look the strongest race on paper.  The general jumping of the babies can tend to be a bit indifferent in these races so it should be a good watch!  Star of Salford runs in the concluding Bumper.  She does have to improve on her last two runs but she did improve on her debut effort at the track last time so a similar level of improvement could see her involved in the finish this evening.

There are four meetings taking place this afternoon, two on the flat at Salisbury and Lingfield as well as jumps fitures from Worcester and Fontwell.  The stable has two runners at Worcester this evening, newcomer Lady Of Longstone and Massannie in the 2m7f handicap hurdle - Tom Scudamore is aboard them both.  There are plenty of horses making their debuts in the bumper so there is little form to go on and you just don't know what you might come up against.  Both of our runners are fairly big prices, but Massannie (pictured above) has shown she possesses plenty of ability (as well as a few quirks!) and could go well if putting her best foot forward.

Let's start by talking about the big race over the weekend...no not the Derby, the Perth Gold Cup!  David won it for the second successive year yesterday, this time with the lightly raced chaser Guess Again (pictured above).  It was a long way to go with just one runner but with over £16,000 in prize money to the winner, it proved to be well worthwhile on this occasion.  According to the Racing Post not only was he ridden by Tom Scudamore but he was trained by him as well - he's a talented lad our Tom!  I seem to remember David giving this one a positive mention in his weekly blog after winning at Wincanton last time, so it seems like he has been proven right.  Just for a change it was a good day for A P McCoy at the meeting too, riding two winners and two seconds for Irish trainer Gordon Elliott.

After a couple of fantastic days action from Epsom, there are just two meetings taking place this afternoon.  Having said that, there is no shortage of quality with a good card from Goodwood on the level as well as jumping action from Perth.  Tom Scudamore makes the long journey up to Perth to ride Guess Again (pictured above) for the stable in the Perth Gold Cup - it is a race we won last year with Problema Tic, so let's hope that we can repeat the feat with this one.  There are eleven runners lined up for the £25,000 prize money on offer  and Irish trainer Gordon Elliott comes across with two runners for the race.  He saddles Raajh (the mount of A P McCoy) and Oldem Cowboy (Davy Condon), so it looks like our ex-amateur pilot means business!

Well, it's Derby Day at Epsom and all eyes will be on the big race at 4.10pm - I wonder who's name will be the next carved in history?  The race is worth £1,380,000 to the winner and that is just a drop in the ocean when you consider the stud fees that the winner will be able to command when eventually retired to stud.  The winning jockey will pick up a cool £138,000 for his percentage - just about average wage for a Premier League footballer!  The stable has a rare runner at the track when Red Seventy runs in the 1m4f handicap at 4.50pm.  Our five year old is fit from a productive campaign over hurdles but this looks to be a big ask, even with the jockey claiming weight off his back.

There is an exciting day of action this afternoon with five meetings taking place - four on the flat at Epsom, Catterick, Goodwood and Bath as well as a jumps card taking place at Market Rasen.  The obvious highlight is the Group 1 Investec Oaks which is being run in memory of Sir Henry Cecil who won the race eight times between the years of 1985 and 2007.  My word he had some good horses win the race with the likes of Oh So Sharp and Diminuendo turning the Epsom Classic into processions.  The stable has no runners this afternoon, although we will have a rare runner at Epsom tomorrow on Derby day when Red Seventy (pictured above) takes in a 1m4f handicap.  David had better dust off his top hat and tails!

I thought that Mount Haven (pictured above) was a hugely impressive winner of the bumper at Fontwell yesterday afternoon.  Despite showing signs of inexperience himself, he made all of the running to score easing down by sixteen lengths.  I am not sure it was the strongest of races, but you can only beat what is put in front of you and he would appear to be some sort of good thing to win over hurdles and fences when David decides to send him jumping.  David found this one at the Cheltenham Sales and he looks to be yet another promising young recruit to the ranks at Pond House.
