I don't know about you, but I am already getting withdrawal symptoms from lack of jump racing!  The stable has one runner this evening at Kempton as On Khee takes in the apprentices' handicap over 1m3 1/2f.  Our mare produced a better effort last time out over a mile at Windsor and she could find the step-up in trip to her liking this evening.  Willy Twiston-Davies is a positive jockey booking and we will be hoping for the best come 6.00pm this evening.  There are four other meetings on the level today at Pontefract, Brighton, Newcastle, Yarmouth.

Despite the lack of jump racing, the work at Pond House keeps up unabated as the horses improve their fitness on the gallops.  Above is a picture of classy hurdler Hunterview in action with a recent recruit from the French Summer Sales, Bois des Aigles.

It was a day of mixed fortunes for flat title chasing jockey Richard Hughes as he recorded a fantastic four-timer at Bath yesterday, in the process narrowing the defecit to Ryan Moore to just three winners...not a bad effort when you consider that Hughsie gave Moore a month's head start courtesy of the Indian Stewards.  Unfortunately for the Irishman he was in trouble with the officials again, this time picking up a two day ban for his use of the stick.  If he could keep out of trouble with the powers that be he would be a shoo-in for the title!

It was an odd sort of a day for jump jockey Robert "Choc" Thornton yesterday as he inadvertently tweeted that his back door was open and his gate code to over 16,000 people on the social networking website!  Thornton claimed that he had become confused amid all the excitement of the Olympics...I know they are good, but that good?  Really?!

Talking of the Olympics, it was another great day for Team GB as they surpassed the Beijing gold medal haul and in the process became the most successful British team in over 100 years.  Sir Chris Hoy was amazing in the cycling last night and now has become the single most successful British Olympian in history with six gold medals.  It was nice that former record holder Sir Steve Redgrave was there to congratulate him, and while I take nothing away from Chris Hoy, for me Redgrave's achievement of winning gold at five different games still marks him out as the greatest to me.
