There is a good card at Chester this afternoon and a big crowd will be expected.  If you are a punter, don't forget the most important single factor at the Roodeye (particularly the sprints) - a good draw is absolutely vital.  The track is tight and runners are always on the turn - if you can get a good position up against the rails, all of your rivals have to come around you and have to travel much further.  There are also meetings on at Newbury on the flat and Market Rasen over jumps.

Well another Glorious Goodwood has come and gone and as expected, Frankel was most definitely the star.  If you get a chance to see the equine superstar in action before his planned retirement at the end of the season, it would be a trip worth making.  He could have only a couple more starts so time is running out to see the legend.

Poor old Ruby Walsh seems to have had endured terrible luck over the last few years with injuries.  Ruby broke his ankle at Galway on Thursday afternoon and will be out of action for six weeks - he is targetting a return for the Listowel Festival on 17th September.  To any normal human being a return to the saddle in that time would be unthinkable but these jockeys are made from tough stuff.  Remember, he also missed this year's Grand National...it's a hard life being a jump jockey, so let's hope that Ruby is soon on the mend.

I thoroughly enjoyed Sue Barker's interview with Princes' William and Harry on Friday at the Olympics.  Harry in particular looks like a real Jack the Lad and both of them seem to enjoy their sport.  You can just imagine Harry out on the town enjoying a few pints with his mates!
