Today there are four flat cards at Ayr, Southwell, Windsor and Wolverhampton.  I thought that Shoegazer jumped well at Southwell yesterday under a good ride from Tom Scudamore and won with a bit in hand, easin him down in the closing stages.  The ground turned out to be good, even good/firm in places which obviously didn't bother our charge, who seems to be very versatile with regard to underfoot conditions.  Under a double penalty I would say that it was probably quite a good performance.  Meanwhile Molly Oscar finished fourth in her first start under rules and should know more next time.

I watched the Amir Khan fight against Danny Garcia and  I am not sure that Khan is as good as he thinks he is.  Personally he doesn't look to be quite top class and his management team should be more selective about who his opponents are - he also looks to have a dodgy chin, although I wouldn't tell him that to his face!  He should fight against boxers and not punchers.

I felt sorry for Marc Warren in the Scottish Open Golf.  He had a three shot lead but looked to really bottle it.  If he had won, he would have got into the Open and a two year exemption on all tournaments.  The pressure looked to have got to him, but until you get into that sort of position it is hard to know what pressure does to your mind and game and that is from someone who knows (from my table tennis days).  6 times world champion snooker player Ray Reardon tells me a story:  he was standing over the table with a long black for his first world title.  Suddenly his shirt started to move - there was no draft in the room - that is what you call pressure!
