The stable has one runner on the level this afternoon at Salisbury.  Enfant de Lune takes in the 2.20pm race and it looks like a wide open handicap (as it should be for the decent prize money of £20,000 that is up for grabs).  While underfoot conditions may find one or two of these out, trip and ground should suit our horse who is fit from a successful stint over hurdles this winter.  I think that Seb Sanders is a good jockey booking and I am looking forward to seeing how our runner gets on.

Meanwhile it is 1,000 Guineas day over at Newmarket and there are no less than five fillies (among the field of eighteen) that put their unbeaten records on the line.  It looks to be a very open contest and will certainly be worth a watch.

What about Tiger Woods missing the cut in the Wells Fargo Championship in North Carolina?  It has only happened five times in her career...maybe with a weekend off he could go and get some practice in!  Or maybe he relax by sticking some Blondie (records) on!

There is a great afternoon of football ahead of us with Newcastle taking on Manchester City at 1.30pm.  At 4pm Manchester United play Swansea and I reckon that by the end of the day we will know which part of Manchester the Premiership Title will be going to.  Manchester United should see off Swansea (they are 1/5 shots), but Newcastle (who beat Chelsea last week) could be the fly in the ointment for City.

Just think about what a thankless task being England football manager is.  You have the expectations of a nation on your shoulders, and unless you win, you are deemed to be a failure - nice man Roy Hodgson has all that to look forward to.  As far as I can tell, the last successful England manager was Sir Alf Ramsey back in 1966 when England lifted the World Cup.  I suppose at least on the bright side, most of our players should now be able to understand what their manager is telling them!
