There is plenty of racing on this afternoon but the obvious highlight is the Scottish National at Ayr.  The stable has three runners up at Ayr - Junior (pictured above), a second fence faller in last week's Grand National, Problema Tic who makes his debut for the yard in the novices' handicap chase and Enfant de Lune, a winner last time out at Ffos Las.  Problema Tic he has a good strike, winning six of his nine starts and hopefully he will be able to carry on where he left off.  Meanwhile we have a couple of runners at Bangor, Roi de Rose who was a good winner last time out at Ffos Las and racecourse debutant Presenting William.  Tom Scudamore heads north, while Conor O'Farrell crosses the Severn Bridge into Wales.

*****

I was watching the racing from Newbury on television yesterday afternoon and it occured to me how crazy the weather has been through the early part of this year.  Only a few weeks ago we had a jumps meeting at Taunton abandoned because of the unseasonably fast ground, while yesterday the flat boys were having to race on soft ground at Newbury!

Talking of Newbury, I see that Her Majesty The Queen was at the races yesterday afternoon mingling with racegoers.  It is her 86th birthday today and I see that she has a couple of runners - I wonder what price a Royal birthday winner?!

The Berkshire track was obviously the place to be yesterday as golfer Rory McIlroy was also there along with his tennis star girlfriend Caroline Wozniacki (that's easier to write than pronounce!).  Is Rory looking to get into racehorse ownership?  I am sure that David would be able to find him a horse that would come upto par!

Whilst we are on the subject of golf...what is the difference between a Lada and a golf ball?  You can drive a golf ball three hundred yards!  Have a good weekend and keep smiling!
