There are just four meetings this afternoon on the flat (five if you include the meeting at Dundalk) and three of those take place on the all-weather!  Nevermind, the proper stuff kicks off again tomorrow with the start of Liverpool's three day Grand National meeting.  It looks as though the ground is going to be perfect for the jumpers.  The big race tomorrow will be the Liverpool Hurdle with Big Buck's the likely short-priced favourite to make it eighteen wins on the bounce - there is also the small matter of £100,000 in prize money - not bad work if you can get it!

I see that Martin has been winding champion jockey A P McCoy up again.  Martin keeps telling him that he will not pass his record of 4,182 winners.  So far A P has ridden just short of 3,700, and Martin has gone so far as to say that if he gets close he may well take out his licence again - I know that really winds the champ up.  I am sure that Martin is only joking...or is he?!

I was watching the racing yesterday afternoon and I noticed a big improver at Pontefract.  The James Given trained Toymaker took the one mile handicap with plenty in hand and his mark of 67 looked much too low.  If I were the handicapper I would turn him out again quickly under a penalty before the handicapper can exact his revenge.

There is a big game on this evening at Loftus Road as QPR take one of the most improved sides, Swansea.  QPR need to win and they had a good game against Arsenal in their last home game.  At 6/5 they look to be well worth an interest.
