The stable has runners this afternoon at Exeter and Hereford.  Conditional jockey Conor O'Farrell takes the rides aboard Trop Fort and Dukes Art while Tom Scudamore travels to Hereford for one ride aboard Barton Stacey.  You know what they say about jockey's going racing for just one ride...I don't know who says it, but personally I always thought it was because they couldn't get any other rides!  We look to have some good chances today and with David on the 91 winner mark for the season, he needs just nine more to reach that magic ton so let's hope for some luck today.

It was an unsuccessful trip to Fontwell yesterday with our sole runner Ms Cordelia.  She travelled very well and looked the likeliest winner until the second last, but she did not look like she quite got home.  Maybe a sharp two miles could be the answer?

It was another glorious day in the West country yesterday afternoon, although there was the first sign of a drop of rain for the first time in a few weeks.  It is hard to believe that some parts of the country have had snow, while the ground up at Sedgefield looked desperate.  It went from good to soft in just one race and the horses were finishing very tired.  Mind you, with Liverpool's Grand National meeting starting a week tomorrow we could do with some rain, especially on Merseyside!

Television sports presenter John Inverdale must be one of the most unlucky people that I know of.  He was saying how he went to Fontwell and parked next to Emma Lavelle, so decided to back her horse.  It finished unplaced.  Later he met Nigel Twiston-Davies, so decided to have a little bet on his charge.  That also finished well beaten.  He said "I think I will try avoiding people from now on" - I will warn David to do a runner if he sees John at the races in future!  John was a part-owner of Make A Stand when I claimed him at Leicester - Martin offered him back to him but he declined.  Make A Stand went on to win a Lanzarote, Tote Gold Trophy and Champion Hurdle as well as many other top races - I will leave it to you to decide if he is a bad judge or just unlucky!
