We have a couple of runners this afternoon, Ms Cordelia and Clever Dick (pictured above on the gallops), who make the long journey up to Catterick.  Ms Cordelia, a winner on the flat in France makes her debut in the mares' novices' hurdle, while Clever Dick, who was a winner last time out at Taunton under a good strong ride from Paddy Brennan should go well once again despite having a 6lbs rise in the weights to contend with.  Tom Scudamore is aboard them both.

With less than a week to go until the start of the Cheltenham Festival I am able to bring you some photographs of some well-known contenders as they continue their preparation.  Great Endeavour looked well as he completed a solo workout on the gallops - he is entered in the Byrne Group Chase (a race that he won in 2010) and the Ryanair Chase.  I also have another picture courtesy of Bill Selwyn to bring you, this time of RSA Chase and Gold Cup entry Grands Crus as he worked under regular pilot Gerry Supple.  Our galloping greys certainly look to be in good order at present..roll on the Festival!

Hopefully the Festival will be full of grey day's for David.  For some reason his string this season seems to have an abundance of talented greys - other than the obvious ones of Grands Crus and Great Endeavour, David is also likely to be represented at the Festival by Dynaste, Zaynar, Our Father and Swing Bill.

Unfortunately there is not such good news of Massini's Maguire as our ultra game eleven year old is out of the Cheltenham and Aintree festivals.  He came back not right after his brave Ascot success and subsequent tests mean that he will miss the remainder of the season.

I see that it is Charles Radclyffes 93rd birthday today.  Charles used to school a lot of MCP's horses in the early days and I have many happy memories of visiting Mr Radclyffes country masion.  He once offered me a drink and it turned out to be half a pint of vodka!

I thought that it was a great performance from Arsenal to beat Milan 3-0 last night - it's just a shame that they lost 4-0 in Milan!  If I were Arsene Wenger I think I would get Van Persie signed up to a long term deal as soon as possible.  There are plenty of other teams that will come offering the big bucks until they do.
