It looks like being another busy day for the yard with twelve runners (eleven at Taunton and one at Haydock).  David will be busy entertaining all his owners at the local meeting, where among the runners we have last time out course winner Mr Chow and decent ex-flat recruit War Singer. Meanwhile I am pleased to see that Haydock has survived a precautionary 8am inspection to race this afternoon where grand old veteran Tamarinbleu will bid to defy top-weight under Timmy Murphy.  It looks like being a cracking day's racing.

Imagine being gutted that you hadn't waxed your legs before going racing!  Well, that's what Group One winning lady jockey Hayley Turner tweeted shortly after she broke her ankle in a pre-race fall earlier in the year at Bath.  I have to be honest, it is not a dilemma that I had ever thought about, but I'm sure that Tom Scudamore takes great care to depilate before setting out for the races each day!

I was saddened to hear that Barrie Cope has passed away at the age of 74.  Barrie was the first seafood business on the racecourses and his stall was always first port of call for Martin.  He enjoyed his fish so much that Barrie would often cater at some of the Pond House partys.  Personally, I was always a big fan of his prawn curries - they really did takes some beating.  Barrie will be sadly missed by everyone at the racecourses he used to serve.

I am looking forward to watching the Liverpool versus Newcastle football match tonight on Sky Sports at 7.45pm.  It will be interesting to see how Andy Carroll will get along against his old club, although £35million does look a bit steep at the moment.  The big plus for Liverpool is the probable return of Steven Gerrard, while the biggest threat to the Reds could be ex-West Ham striker Demba Ba who can't stop scoring goals - it should be an interesting match.
