We are off to Leicester this afternoon with a couple of runners, Bygones Sovereign who makes his hurdling debut and Enfant de Lune who participates in the handicap hurdle - both will be ridden by Tom Scudamore.  The best of our runners yesterday at Chepstow was Consigliere who ran his best race for some time when third over fences, although he still looks as though he could do with a little bit of respite from the handicapper.

I have been watching plenty of racing up north recently and there is a lady jockey (yes, I did say lady jockey) that has really impressed me.  Her name is Lucy Alexander and she claims a handy 7lbs - while I was watching she rode a couple of great finishes and she looks to be good value for her 7lbs claim - keep an eye on her.

Talking of northern racing, I was sorry to see former Pond House jockey Danny Cook has been in the wars again.  Danny, who rode Our Vic to Charlie Hall success and Great Endeavour to victory at the Cheltenham Festival is now retained jockey to Brian Ellison, whose Amtired he fell from, breaking his kneecap in three places.  He goes for surgery today and he obviously faces an extended period of absence on the sidelines - our best wishes go out to him for a speedy recovery.

I can't believe it...Phil "The Power" Taylor is out of the World Darts Championship after losing to D Chisnall.  Phil is always World Champion - he is a bit like A P McCoy...an immovable object at the top of their respective professions.  Obviously darts is not as dangerous as horseracing (unless of course one of your opponents falls on you!).  The last time he lost Tommy Barrett was World Champion - you older readers will remember Tommy who was twice News of the World Champion.

How good is Gareth Bale?  It was another great performance from him with two goals against Norwich - if I was Harry Redknapp I think I would be telling everone that Gareth has a problem rather than praising him up all the time!  Every player has a price and I wouldn't be surprised if Manchester City or Chelsea came sniffing around.

I think the place to avoid today is probably Glasgow as Celtic take on Rangers - it is always a turbulent affair, and I don't just mean on the pitch!
