     Jaipaletemps runs at Chepstow Today

The stable has had doubles for the last two Saturdays running, but we may find it more difficult to keep that going with just the two chances of winners today. We have one runner under each code, Jaipaletemps runs over fences at Chepstow while Green sky has an outing on the flat at Linfield.

Jaipaletemps has already had a fantastic season with four wins over fences on the board. All those wins have come under our conditional Rian Corcoran but today he has the assistance of Conor O’farrell in the saddle who has ridden him before to be placed. He runs in the 3:40pm handicap chase over 2 miles, there are only six runners but it looks a competitive little race. Our seven-year-old will like the track and ground, but he does have to bounce back from a lesser effort last time at Uttoxeter. That run did come quite quickly after his win at Taunton so I do think you can forgive him that performance. He races from a career high mark in a higher grade race and while we don’t know if his progression has peaked, hopefully it has not! He is about 5/1 third best in the betting and hopefully he has a good each way chance.

It is Winter Derby day at Lingfield on the all-weather this afternoon, but we take part in the following race at 2:33pm, a handicap over 1m5f. Green Sky has some good form on the flat in the past but this will be her first effort on the all-weather surface for a couple of years. We feel she is not enjoying the soft ground present over hurdles so we’ll just see how she gets on and hopefully enjoys a spin on the flat. She is a big price and Gina Mangan, an in-form jockey rides.

There is plenty of good jumps action today, Chepstow is just one of three National Hunt fixtures with Kempton and Newcastle also taking place. Both Jack Tudor and Rian Corcoran are in action at Kempton and have good rides in their feature Racing Post chase at 3.35pm. The feature contest up at Newcastle is the Eider chase at 2.43pm. There is a good card in Ireland at Fairyhouse and the other all-weather action today comes from Chelmsford.

I started the day yesterday feeling full of hope about a winner filled Friday, but unfortunately it was not to be! River Run Free ran well enough at first to be third but did perhaps not stay the 3 mile trip on that ground as well as we hoped. Eton Mes probably found the race coming a little too soon after Wincanton and was not at his best but round respectively to be third. Gold in the Rivers completed our runners had every chance as they bypassed the final flight of hurdles but seem to get worried out of things at the finish, Jack Tudor said he hated the ground. I do not think any of the our horses looked to enjoy the ground at Ffos Las yesterday it did look pretty horrible!  Meanwhile at Exeter, Follow the Plan improved on her stable debut to be a respectable third while Itseemslikeit was in trouble from an early stage and it is back to the drawing board with him.

I can't not mention Constitution Hill at Southwell last night. I have to admit I was getting a little tired of all the hype in the lead up to the race but Wow, what a horse and what a performance! He made a good flat horse in second look very ordinary and it was lovely to watch the cheers and adulation of a packed racecourse and for all those people watching from home. I am not sure it makes their decision as to what to do next any easier but it shows what an engine he has, what a racehorse and how special he is and we should feel very privileged to be watching him.

There is plenty of sporting action to watch away from the racing as well today. The Six Nations rugby action return returns with England hosting Ireland at Twickenham. That Match gets on the way at 2:10pm while Scotland are in Cardiff to play Wales at 4:40 pm.

There are five Premier League football matches today no early kick-off is but West Ham against Bournemouth is the teatime match at 5:30pm, well Manchester City playing Newcastle at 8pm.

There is still plenty of winter Olympic action to follow throughout today and we have a chance of winning another gold medal this evening as a Great Britain men’s curling team play Canada for the gold medal. The match starts at 6:05 pm.
