We had another 23mm of rain here at Pond House overnight, taking our February total to 144mm!  We only had 96mm in the whole of February 2025 so with another ten days to go this month and further rain forecast we will surely be pushing the 200mm barrier again!  Add that to the 244mm we had last month, 194mm we had in December and 148mm with had in November and you can see why we are so saturated!  There were due to be be three jumps meetings today but Sandown was called off on Monday due to waterlogging.  That leaves jumping action at Huntingdon and Sedgefield today, with the ground described as heavy at the former and good to soft, soft in places up North at Sedgefield.  The stable does not have any runners today.

In Ireland they have jumps racing at Thurles today while the flat action come from Newcastle on the all-weather and their first race gets underway at 3.57pm and takes us through into the evening.

Yesterday, Giverhimthehonour probably ran his best race for us to be third in the staying handicap chase at Southwell.  He travelled and jumped well and although he got a little outpaced rounding the home turn he galloped all the way to the line.  This will have helped his confidence and hopefully he can build on this going forwards.

In other news, if you haven't heard, Constitution Hill made to line up for his flat race tomorrow evening at Southwell and Oisin Murphy rides.  He is drawn in stall 2 which is a little wide but that is the luck of the draw.  It is a good field and all eyes will be on Southwell at 7.30pm!

Last night, Arsenal were 2-1 up away at Wolves starting injury time in their Premiership football match and ended up drawing 2-2 after a late equaliser from the home team.  This is more points lost for the league leaders and there was evident frustration from the players at the final whistle.  Manchester City are now just five points behind with a game in hand so it will make it a very interesting few weeks in the football world ahead.  Newcastle easily won their Champions League knock out match, 6-1 away at Qarabag.  There is Europa League knockout football this evening with Nottingham Forrest, Celtic and Crystal Palace all in action.

It was a good day at the Winter Olympics for both the men's and women's curling teams yesterday.  They started the day both needing to win their matches to keep their medal hopes alive and for other results to go their way and that all happened!  The events continue today and there is one called Ski mountaineering, not heard of this one before but might try and see what it is all about if I can.  There is more curling, Nordic Combined, and Skiing half pipe to watch today along with some medal matches in the ice hockey.

Alligators can live up to 100 years.

Which is why there's an increased likelihood that they will see you later!

Have a good day!
