My journey into work this morning was a little better than anticipated after hearing the wind and rain bashing on my windows throughout the night!  Things aren't good locally on the roads but my route was luckily flood free.  I do believe there are two lanes shut on the M5 between Taunton and Wellington because of flooding so be careful if you are out on the roads this morning.  We have had 37mm of rain in the last 24 hours and considering it was a dry day yesterday up until at least 4pm that is a lot of rain to have fallen since then and we have definitely broken our January record rainfall.

We await news if Chepstow is okay to race today (it is!) but we now have no runners, Saccary and Walkadina were both declared to run but are non-runners on account of the ground and we will wait for another day. There is also jumps racing at Newcastle today while in Ireland, Limerick must pass an 8am inspection for racing to go ahead.

Yesterday, things were not wet enough for Royal Mer at Hereford.  We were worried the track was a little on the sharp side for him but thought with the going description of soft, heavy in places that he would be fine.  The ground was not as soft on the chase course as on the hurdle course and you could see he was in top gear from an early stage.  He kept galloping to the line, running his usual honest race but we will have to return to a stiffer track next time.

Last night in the football, Everton drew 1-1 with Leeds.  There is no Premiership football this evening as we gear up for a big night of Champions League action tomorrow evening.  World number one women's tennis player Aryna Sabalenka is through to the semi-finals of the Australian Open after an easy victory while Alexander Zverev is through on the men's side.  Carlos Alcaraz will be in action in his quarter final match against Alex de Minaur a bit later this morning.

I worked on an orange juice factory, until I got canned.

They put the squeeze on me, said I couldn't concentrate!

Have a good day!
