Jack Pipe is in Pony Race Action Today

It is a quieter Sunday on the racing front with one jumps meeting at Sedgefield and nothing on the flat in Britain.  There is a jumps card in Ireland at Naas which features a Grade 3 novices chase at 3.25pm.  This race looks a fairly open looking betting contest with the Willie Mullins trained Argento Boy just shading favouritism.  There was due to be jumps racing at Fontwell this afternoon and we probably would have had a runner, Pachacuti but the meeting was abandoned of Friday due to waterlogging.

There was also going to be local point to point racing as well at Chipley Park which is just outside Wellington but that to was abandoned on Friday because of waterlogging.  They are looking to re-arrange the meeting when another suitable date can be found.  We were going to have two runners there as well with Mia Holmes going to have her first ride on Ben Lilly in the Mixed Open race and James Shaw was going to partner Lustfull Lady in the mares maiden but we will be looking to run them again soon somewhere.

We do however have some action to look forward to today as we head to Cocklebarrow point to point in Gloucestershire with Jack Pipe having his first ride on new pony Little Chiefy.  He runs in the 148cm race and we are just hoping for a nice run round and see how they get on.  Jack is looking forward to it and it will be a great experience before he hopes to ride in the racecourse series a little bit later down the line.  I shall let you know how they get on tomorrow.

There are four Premiership football matches this afternoon with three of them kicking off at 2pm.  Brentford are at home to Nottingham Forrest, Crystal Palace play Chelsea and Aston Villa travel to Newcastle.  The 4.30pm game see's Manchester United playing Arsenal at the Emirates.  I am not too hopeful of a United win but then I wasn't too hopeful last weekend against Manchester City so who knows!  Hopefully I will be back from Cocklebarrow to watch the game and I shall also try and keep an eye on the Australian Open tennis and the Dubai golf!  It is going to be a busy day!

What do cakes and cricket teams have in common?

They both need a good batter!

Have a fab Sunday!
