There is good racing action on both sides of the Irish Sea today with some Graded races at Windsor over here and at Thurles in Ireland. There is also jumps racing at Fakenham so plenty to keep us entertained on a Sunday afternoon. We have one runner at Windsor, Penn Avenue who runs in the opening race on the card at 12.20pm, a mares novices hurdle which has some good prize money up for grabs. She has had just the one start over hurdles where she finished third at Doncaster and this race is tougher but we are looking to gain some more experience and pick up as much prize money as we can. She is about 14/1 in the betting, I am not sure she will love the soft ground although she does have some form on the flat on it and she gets quite a bit of weight from her elders which will be an advantage. A good run with a top four finish would be perfect!
The first graded race of the day at Windsor is the Novices chase at 1.20pm that was re-scheduled from Warwick's abandoned meeting last weekend. There are just the six runners but according to the betting there is not much to choose between five of them and Jeriko Du Reponet would be my tentative selection. At 3.00pm we have the Fleur de Lys Chase over 2m6f and to me the favourite, Protektorat will take all the beating.
There is a Grade 2 mares novices chase at Thurles at 2.15pm and Jade De Grugy is the very short priced favourite to win this. There is a Grade 2 chase at 3.20pm and Willie Mullins trains four of the five runners so I think he may win it! Appreciate It is the favourite but he does have the first four in the betting so it will just be what order they finish in!
There is point to point action at Larkhill today, while we don't have any runners all of our amateur jockeys are in action. Martin McIntyre, James Shaw and Ashley Dascombe are all riding so best of luck to them and I will let you know if they have any winners tomorrow.
There are just Premiership football matches today, with Wolves against Newcastle at 2pm. Aston Villa are at home to Everton at 4.30pm.
Exeter Chiefs are in European Challenge Cup rugby action today, at home to Cardiff at 1pm.
I saw a piece of bread at the zoo.
The zookeeper said it was bread in captivity!
Have a lovely Sunday.
