I am not sure where this week has gone but we have reached Friday and there are two good jumps meetings today at Market Rasen and Windsor and we have runners at both.  Red Wine Supernova and Vision De Maine run at Market Rasen while Gericault Roque is our representative at Windsor.  Red Wine Supernova runs in the Liested mares bumper at Market Rasen at 2.40pm and Jack Tudor rides.  She has won her only start in a bumper so far at Sedgefield on Boxing Day.  That was only a four runner affair but she was quite eye catching in the manner of her victory and she is a mare we like a lot at home.  She is by the sire, Kingston Hill who we like and she shows a great attitude in all that she does.  She is a very similar mare to Kingston Queen who won this race last year who is by the same sire.  Red Wine Supernova is going to appreciate jumping and further in time but that will be next season and while this looks a strong race, I think she has a great chance.  She is about 6/1 in the betting, will handle the track and ground and it will be interesting to see how she gets on.

Vision De Maine runs in the concluding staying handicap chase on the card at 3.45pm and Jack Tudor rides.  You can put a line through is last run at Exeter when the ground was nearly unraceable and the meeting was abandoned not long after his race.  He hated the ground and was never really going.  He is about 4/1 second best in the betting and I would hope he has a good chance.  He wears first time blinkers to sharpen him up a little and the track and ground will be fine.  He is a lovely big chaser and there is definitely scope for improvement off his current handicap rating.

Harry Cobden rides Gericault Roque in the Windsor final at 4.05pm and it is great to get him back on the track.  He is lightly raced in recent times but has some high class form in the book.  He ran well at this track twelve months ago so we know he handles it and he will like the ground.  He has been very fragile to train but all the ability and enthusiasm is there.  He has done plenty of work at home and been away for a couple of racecourse gallops.  He is about 8/1 in the betting and I think he has a big run in him.

There are two all-weather fixtures today at Newcastle and Wolverhampton while in Ireland they just have the one flat card at Dundalk.

Nothing much went right for us on the runners front yesterday and I got very wet at Wincanton!  Our horses there did not enjoy the ground while Shot Boii's race at Ludlow was all-over at the first fence when a bad blunder cost him everything and it was effectively race over.  Chemical Warfare pulled up at Newcastle.  Days like this are never good but worse things happen and you have to keep looking forward.  Hopefully we will have more luck today!

Bath are in European cup rugby action this evening at home to Edinburgh and Jack Pipe is off to watch the match with his friends so I hope it is a good game.  Rory McIlroy has started well in his first golf tournament of the year and is towards the top of the leader board with the second round underway.

I wanted to name my son Lance but my husband said it was uncommon.

I told him that in medieval days, people were named Lance a lot.

Happy Friday!
