It is a quieter day on the racing front with just two jumps meetings, one on the flat and nothing in Ireland.  We have three runners at Wincanton while the other jumps actions comes from the North at Catterick. The Newcastle all-weather flat card gets underway at 3.12pm.

Shot Boii runs in the second race at 1pm, the 3m2f conditional jockeys handicap chase and Rian Corcoran rides. He ran too badly to be true on his only start of the season at Ffos Las and I hope he can bounce back today. He hasn’t won for a while but he is usually quite consistent and runs his race. I have a feeling he doesn’t like Ffos Las that much so I am hoping we can see his true colours this afternoon. This will be Rian’s first ride on him in a race and his ten pound claim will be a big advantage. I see he is second best in the betting and fingers crossed he has a good chance.

Harley’s Pride runs in the 1.30pm novices hurdle over 2m4f and Jack Tudor rides. Her two runs in bumpers were not too bad at all but she was disappointing at Hereford on hurdling debut. She needs to take a step forward from that and I think she can while the winner is likely to be either of the first two horses in the betting.

Royal Mer completes our runners, he runs in the 2.30pm handicap chase over 2m4f and Jack is in the saddle. It was a tough season for our seven year old last year, having had such a successful season the time before he was in the grip of the handicapper. He was consistent and placed without winning but he starts this time around in a better mark and will be winning more races. The ground cannot be soft enough for him really so ideally he would have loved more rain ahead of today but he has to start somewhere. It is a competitive race and he is about 15/2 in the market. I am hopeful without being confident and I think whatever he does today will be improved upon going forwards.

The Wincanton card gets underway with a two runner beginners chase at 12.30pm.  Very few runners has been the theme in these sort of races of late but today’s two horses have some high class form over hurdles. Regents Stroll versus Jeriko Du Reponet is the line up with the former being the favourite despite being rated four pounds inferior to his rival. You don’t need many horses to make a race and this promises to be a cracker all being well.

There were plenty of goals in the football last night as Manchester United drew 4-4 at home to Bournemouth. They seem much better at scoring this season but need to improve defensively. Tonight we have the first of the English League Cup quarter finals, Chelsea are away to Cardiff at 8pm.

The third Ashes test gets underway this evening at 11.30pm British time in Adelaide. England are 2-0 down against the Aussies and things do not look that good for preventing a white wash.

My inflatable house got a puncture yesterday.

Now I am living in a flat!

Have a good Tuesday!!
