American Sniper runs at Plumpton Today
We start the new week with a runner at Plumpton, American Sniper who runs in the valuable 2m4f handicap hurdle at 2.35pm and Rian Corcoran rides. Rian rides Sniper for the first time today and his ten pound claim will be a real help this afternoon and I would like to think he has a good chance. He has had just the one start at Cheltenham so far this season and he will have improved for this outing. The handicapper has given him a chance and providing there is not too much rain at the track I do no think he will be too far away. There is rain due this morning, we have had quite significant rain here at Pond House, but hopefully they are not due as much on that side of the country. He is about 17/2 in the betting and fingers crossed for a good run.
Plumpton is one of two jumps meetings today, the other being up at Ayr. There are two flat cards at Kempton and Wolverhampton with the latter getting underway at 4.25pm.
Yesterday at Leicester, Activist ran well to a point but did get quite tired from the last hurdle, weakening to finish fifth. That was his first run since a wind operation and they can take a run to realise they can breathe better so hopefully this will be the case for him. He needs a little help from the handicapper as well and then I am sure he can return to winning ways.
