There are two jumps meetings today at Carlisle and Huntingdon but the stable does not have any runners. In Ireland they have a flat card at the Curragh and a jumps fixture at Cork which features a 2.45pm Grade 3 novices chase which only has five runners but they are a quality bunch. There is some good races at Carlisle this afternoon as well with another small but select field for the listed mares chase at 1.32pm while the same comments can be applied to the Intermediate chase at 2.37pm. There are plenty of runners in the other races on the card which looks competitive and should be an interesting watching.
Well done to young Toby Moore, son of Ryan who rode his second winner on Friday at Newmarket. He looked strong and tidy when winning on Castle Rock for his boss Charlie Appleby and I am sure there will be plenty more winners ahead in his career.
There was a big blow for the Paul Nicholls team on Friday who announced that one of their stable stars Caldwell Potter will miss the season. The seven year old picked up an injury after galloping at Newbury on Monday. That is unfortunately what can happen to everyone, you are dreaming big one day, for them only the be dashed the next but he is a young horse and he will be back next season.
Best of luck to Tom and Sara Malone and all the others people taking part in Racing Welfare's Strictly Come Dancing this evening at Newbury racecourse. Myself, David and Leanne are going to watch and it should be a good evening with trainers Dan Skelton, Jamie Snowden, Warren Greatrex and Tim Vaughn in the line up along with flat jockey Finley Marsh to name a few. All couples have been practicing for several weeks and will perform a solo dance plus a group effort. There is also a sit-down dinner and all those taking part have been working hard and raised a phenomenal amount of sponsorship as well. The charity does a great job in helping everyone involved in the racing industry it is great to be able to support this event. The evening will be live streamed and you can watch from home for a donation of £5. Please follow the link below for more details of how you can watch.
There are just two Premiership football matches today and West Ham play Newcastle at 2pm while Manchester City are at home to Bournemouth at 4.30pm.
I was bored so I swapped all the sweets into different wrappers.
My friend isn't amused...she go her snickers in a twix!
Have a lovely Sunday!
