Jumps racing made its return over the weekend and we have one runner at Stratford today, Ocean Heights. He runs in the 4.27pm handicap hurdle over two miles and this will be his first start over obstacles in just under a year. He was last in action over hurdles at this track where he finished third in a similar sort of race. Jack Tudor rides and he is about 6/1 third best in the betting. He won two races on the flat back in May but he has disappointed in that sphere in his last couple of races since and we are hoping a change of discipline sparks some enjoyment. He is a bumper winner at this track but is yet to win over hurdles and so we are hoping that will change this afternoon.
There are three flat meetings today at Catterick, Windsor and Ayr and in Ireland there is no racing. Later this week, all eyes will be on the York Ebor Festival which starts on Wednesday with a high class day of racing. The Juddmote International kicks off the meeting and it features a fascinating rematch between Delacroix and Ombudsman, after the pair fought out a great battle in the Coral Eclipse when they last met. Dual Derby hero Lambourn could also be in action in the Voltigeur Stakes as well and so it promised to be a great day of action. The Ebor Festival is four days of terrific racing which concludes on Saturday.
I thought my team, Manchester United played well in their first Premiership match of the season yesterday but ultimately lost 1-0 to Arsenal. I thought they were the better team for most of the match and it was an enjoyable performance to watch apart from the result! Manchester City and Spurs were easy winners on Saturday while there is one Premier League match this evening, Leeds play Everton at 8pm.
There were wins for the Manchester Originals and Birmingham Phoenix in the cricket Hundred yesterday and there is now a three way tie at the top of the table with the Oval Invincibles, the Trent Rockets and the Northern Supercharges all on 12 points but the latter have played a game more. Tonight, the Southern Brave play the Oval Invincible at 6.30pm.
Scottish golfer Robert MacIntyre did not have the best final round at the BMW Championships in Maryland yesterday. He had an overnight lead going into it but let that slip and World number one Scottie Scheffler claimed yet another victory.
I recently opened a company selling trampolines disguised as prayer mats.
Prophets are going through the roof!
Have a great Monday!
