There are five flat fixtures today with week four of the Racing League coming from Windsor this evening. The other flat meetings are at Salisbury, Beverley, Chepstow and Chelmsford while in Ireland they have two meetings, a flat card at Cork and a mixed meeting at Tramore. There are just two more days until jumps racing returns to Britain. The stable does not have any runners today.
The Windsor meetings kicks off at 5pm this evening and it is the team from The East who are currently at the top of the table with 395 points but London and the South are hot on their heels with 379. The current whipper in's at the bottom of the table are The North on 235 points so they have a bit of work to do. Richard Kingscote leads the way in the jockey standings.
In Ireland yesterday, Noel Meade was unsuccessful in his appeal in his attempt to get back the Galway hurdle. An appeals body stuck with the decision of the stewards on the day and confirmed Ndawi as the winner of Ireland's richest hurdle race. I understand why the Meade team wanted to challenge the stewards decision but I have to agree that it was the right decision in the first place. I know Gordon Elliott and Noel Meade are good friends and I am sure it wasn't easy for either of them but at least they can now all move on.
The French Derby winner, Camille Pissarro has been retired to stud after it was revealed he sustained a hairline fracture to his fetlock after running in the Coral Eclipse. The colt trained by Aidan O'Brien won the French Derby in June and retires having won three of his eleven career starts, two Group 1's and over £1 million in prize money.
There was another entertaining match in the cricket hundred competition last night with the Welsh Fire turning the match around in the last 20 balls to gain their first win. The Northern Superchargers beat the Southern Brave earlier in the afternoon. This evening, the London Spirit are at home to the Trent Rockets. Somerset are also in One Day Cup action away to Yorkshire today.
PSG beat Spurs on penalties last night to win the Super Cup but the result doesn't tell the full story. Spurs were 2-0 up with five minutes to go but PSG fought back to get the draw in the final minutes of the game. Gutting for Spurs, who were bidding to be the first British team to winner this trophy since 2018 but apparently there were good signs for the team under their new manager.
I am thinking of taking up coin collecting.
I believe the change will do me good.
Have a good day!
