There are four flat meetings in Britain today at Catterick, Salisbury, Doncaster and Leicester. In Ireland they have a meeting under each code, they race on the flat at Naas and over jumps at Wexford. The stable does not have any runners today.
The King and Queen made an official visit to Newmarket yesterday, the first official visit there since Queen Elizabeth II in 2016. They had been there privately to visit there horses in training previously but on this occasion they joined several senior racing figures in firstly visiting the National Stud to see their four stallions which includes the might Stradivarius, whom the king fed some polos! There were big crowds as they travelled through Newmarket and they went on a walkabout to meet with people who had turned out to see them. Part of their visit was also to launch the Jockey Club Patrons Scholarship which will provide training at the National Stud and British Racing School to students from the diversity recruitment pathway.
Amateur jockey Sam Lee was yesterday banned from riding for six months for using cocaine. He was tested while riding at Warwick in May and returned a positive test. He accepted the charges against him and described the process as a 'kick up the arse'.
It was a great night in the Euros women's football last night as England came from behind to beat Italy 2-1 in the the semi-final in extra time. They were 1-0 down for much of the game and despite having all the pressure in the second half they were seemingly destined to be exiting the tournament but a 95th minute equaliser brought the house down! Extra time followed and a late penalty from Chloe Kelly was initially saved but she scored on the rebound and secured England's place in Sunday's final. We will know their opponents tonight as Germany play Spain in the other semi-final. While England have not necessarily played the best football in this tournament you cannot knock that attitude and desire to win and this has shone through in their games.
The fourth cricket test match between England and India starts today at Old Trafford at 11am. It has been an exciting series so far and things are set up nicely for this one with England leading the series 2-1.
