We are midway through the new week already and there is plenty of flat cards taking place today coming from Ascot, Pontefract and Brighton with all-weather action at Southwell this evening. The second day of Punchestown takes place today, which is the sole meeting over in Ireland.

We head to Punchestown with two runners, American Sniper and Thanksforthehelp. They both run in the 2:30pm Series Handicap Hurdle Final over 2miles 3½f, which is for Conditional Jockeys only so Ben Bromley rides American Sniper and Gavin Brouder rides Thanksforthehelp. It will be a fiercely competitive race which is to be expected, but both runners are not without each way chances; Thanksforthehelp has already placed in this race in the past.

Galopin Des Champs returns to action and bids for a first Punchestown Gold Cup success the race takes place at 5:30pm and he will only face three other rivals, which includes the likes of Spillane’s Tower, Banbridge and Monty’s Star.

Some other news for a surprise name yesterday, as it looks like Constitution Hill has been given an entry to feature alongside Champion Kyprios, in the entry list for the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot. He is set to feature in the Champion Hurdle at Punchestown on Friday. Owner, Michael Buckley has always said it's a race he's dreamt of winning and they have nothing to lose if they do go there.

I got asked the other day how good I am at making spreadsheets.

I replied "I Excel at it!"

Have a great Wednesday!
