Phantomofthepoints runs today at Ayr
It is the start of a busy upcoming weekend as Ayr kicks off their first day of the Scottish National meeting. The rest of the jumps action comes from Fontwell, Sedgefield and Huntingdon. The flat action is coming from Newbury only on the turf. In Ireland, they race over both codes with jumping action at Ballinrobe and an all-weather card at Dundalk.
It is a busy day for the stable as we make the long journeys to Ayr and Sedgefield with runners. Firstly at Ayr, Phantomofthepoints runs in the 4:25pm Handicap Hurdle over 2miles 5f with Callum Pritchard riding. He had a great start to the season and did run well in a competitive and valuable race at Uttoxeter. He is a former course winner and hopefully, he can run another solid race.
We then make another long trip to Sedgefield, where we have two runners on the card. Pub Crawl is up first and he runs in the 5:25pm Handicap Hurdle over 2miles with Jack Tudor riding. He is yet to win over hurdles, but was a good second at the track when last in action; he is in good form at home and has the ability to run well.
Chemical Warfare finishes our day up and runs in the 5:55pm Handicap Chase over 3miles 2f again with Jack Tudor on board. He has had a terrific season, ran well in the Eider Chase at Newcastle last time out, he returns to much calmer scenes today and can hopefully run another nice race.
Yesterday we were at Newton Abbot with just the one runner, Johannes. He seemed to be travelling okay early on in the race and was handy all the way through, he just never seemed to be able to pick up and quicken in the final stages, it's back to the drawing board with him.
It was great for Kieran Burke to get his first jumps winner of 2025 yesterday, at Newton Abbot. Northern Symphonie was ridden by Sam Twiston-Davies which was a first time booking for the trainer/jockey duo, but it certainly paid off!
I was going to tell you a joke about boxing, but I forgot the punch line!
Happy Friday!
