Belfrina runs today
Photo courtesty of Doncaster Racecourse
It’s building up to be a busy weekend of racing, the jumps action today comes from Newbury, Ffos Las and Musselburgh. The all-weather action comes from Southwell this evening and in Ireland, there is all-weather action coming from Dundalk.
It is a busy day for the yard with three runners up and down the country! Belfrina starts us off at Musselburgh in the 3:20pm Juvenile Hurdle over 2miles 1½f with Jack Tudor riding. She is a thoroughly likeable filly who is very lightly raced and she won a listed mare’s contest last time out. This race has been the plan for a while, the track and conditions should hopefully suit.
Heading back down to Newbury, we have Gold In The Rivers who runs in the 3:30pm Handicap Hurdle over 3miles with Tom Bellamy on board. He pulled up last time out on what was real tiring ground, so the better ground conditions here should suit a bit more to his liking.
Rounding up the day of runners, we have Pachacuti who runs in the 4:37pm Handicap Hurdle over 3miles with Ben Bromley on board. He returned to form to be second over hurdles last time out at the track, he appreciated the drop back to the smaller obstacles and hoping he can continue the good form.
Yesterday we were at Chepstow with Lock Out and he jumped and travelled nicely throughout but maybe he just found the ground to be a little too quick for his liking. But there will be other days for him.
It was a day not to forget for Josh Bryan who was previously a successful flat jockey, but has now made the switch to riding over jumps. He made his mark in the jumping ranks aboard his first winner Musique De Fee for Georgie Nicholls yesterday. Josh is actually a cousin of Sean and James Bowen and is now based with Olly Murphy, hopefully this winner will be the first of many for him!
