Royal Mer runs today
We've had some glorious weather the last few days and there is much more racing action to enjoy today. The jumps cards comes from Fontwell and Wincanton with the all-weather action coming from Newcastle this evening. In Ireland, there is jumps action coming from Thurles.
At Wincanton, we have just the one runner which is Lock Out who runs in the 2:20pm Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Chase over 3miles 1f with Ben Bromley on board. He ran well to be second at Hereford last time and will enjoy the drying ground here today. We also head to Fontwell with a busy afternoon Saccary runs in the 2:10pm Maiden Hurdle over 2miles 1½f with Jack Tudor riding. He did run better last time out and he's always improving, he has the hood fitted today just to help settle him.
Royal Mer runs in the 2:40pm Handicap Chase over 2miles 3½f with Jack Tudor riding. He ran his best race of the season so far last time out finishing second at Lingfield. He jumped and galloped all the way to the line and maybe just bumped into one that day so fingers crossed he can go one better today. Activist is next at Fontwell and runs in the 3:40pm Handicap Hurdle over 2miles 3f with Jack Tudor on board. He's had some credible runs recently and a change of headgear today will hopefully help get him back on form. He's in good form at home.
Bras d'Or makes his debut for Pond House in the 4:40pm Bumper over 2miles 1f with Jack Tudor on board. He was second in an Irish point to point, has settled in well to life at Pond House and it will be good to get him out on the track and see how he gets on.
Cheltenham clerk of the course, Jon Pullin has mentioned they could begin selective watering on the course as early as today as we continue to have a dry spell of weather. We are due some rain on Friday but not expecting a great deal so the watering process must take that into account. Since 2018 only one festival has started on ground drier than soft, but it's sure to be a lovely dry-ish week if you're heading up there at least!
What's the best time to go to the dentist?
Tooth-hurty!
Have a great Thursday!
