Quiet Tuesday

The action is a bit quiet as we build up to a busy week next week. The jumps card comes from Market Rasen with the sole jumping action of the day, with the all-weather cards coming from Newcastle and Southwell with an evening card. No racing in Ireland today and the stable have another quiet day with no runners.

Henrietta Knight has made her assessment that Galopin Des Champs is a certainty in his attempt to win the Gold Cup for a third time, as she once did with Best Mate in 2002, 2003 and 2004. She also thinks that not only could he match Best Mate’s achievements but even go one better and win it for a fourth time in 2026.

It was confirmed yesterday, that the clash between Brighterdaysahead and Constitution Hill is set to take place in the Unibet Champion Hurdle at this year’s Cheltenham Festival, on the opening day. There was a chance that the Brighterdaysahead connections could swerve to the Mares’ Hurdle but, the team have never won a Champion Hurdle and find this their best opportunity to have a crack at it!  

In the football, the UEFA Champions League has plenty going on with Club Brugge vs. Aston Villa kicking things off at 5:45pm, with the later matches coming from Dortmund vs. Lille, PSV vs. Arsenal and Real Madrid vs. Atletico all kick off at 8pm.
