Jurancon after winning at Newbury
Monday is back around and it's the week before Cheltenham with the countdown closing down. The jumps cards today come from Southwell and Newcastle, while on the all-weather there is an evening card at Wolverhampton. In Ireland, there is jumps action coming from Leopardstown where Jack Kennedy makes his return in the saddle. No runners for the stable today.
Over the weekend, Jurancon tallied his third win of the season at Newbury. It was a great performance under a good ride from Jack Tudor and he looks like he will be able to get further in trip within time. At Doncaster on Sunday, Chemical Dave was making his career debut and it would've felt like his first day at school! He was a little green throughout but he kept galloping all the way to the line and he will be able to build on that run going forward.
There were some brilliant performances over the weekend with the veteran Sam Brown putting up a brave performance to win at Newbury and he showed plenty of fire still in his belly! It's always nice seeing these veterans still have plenty of zest and I do think the veteran races are a perfect initiative giving them the chance to run against their equal.
Sean Bowen demonstrated his Champion Jockey ability as he rode a magnificent race on Booster Bob, having been last throughout and looking in danger of being pulled up it was an incredible ride from Sean to get the horses head in front in the closing stages.
It was also a great day to see Moroder trained by Seamus Mullins win the Grimthorpe at Doncaster for a second time, having started out at Seamus' from my first job in racing and having plenty of support throughout my career choices it's always a sense of satisfaction when they do get a nice big winner!
Tonight in the football the FA Cup action continues after a busy weekend and tonight Nottingham Forest take their chances against Ipswich Town with kick off at 7:30pm.
What goes up but never comes down?
Your age!
Happy Monday!
