Chemical Warfare Runs at Newcastle Today

The weekend has come back around and there is plenty of action going ahead today. The jumps cards come from Kempton, Chepstow and Newcastle while the all-weather action is at Chelmsford and Southwell. In Ireland, they are jumping at Fairyhouse.

It is another busy day for the stable as we have a runner at each jumps meeting in Britain today. Chemical Warfare starts us off at Newcastle in the 2:10pm Eider Chase over 4miles 1½f with Jack Tudor riding. He has had a terrific season; this represents a step up in grade but looks well worth giving it a go! He has won at the track three times before so we know that suits, he returns from a wind operation and he is in good form at home.

We then head on to Chepstow with Gold In The Rivers who runs in the 2:32pm Handicap Hurdle over 2miles 7½f with David Noonan on board. This is the last Pertemps qualifier for Cheltenham, which he has already qualified for, but this looked a suitable race for him to go for. He has had a wind operation and hopefully, that can bring out further improvement.  It is an open looking racing and we are about 10/1 in the betting.

Our last runner of the day is Deeper Blue at Kempton in the 3:35pm Ladbrokes Trophy Handicap Chase with Conor O’Farrell riding. He makes his debut for Pond House today but he has some good form in the book and he has settled in nicely at home, there is some nice prize money on offer and he goes well fresh.  He is a big price but will enjoy the track and ground and it will be interesting to see how he gets on.

Yesterday at Exeter, Lady Balko ran a much better race than her previous two starts and travelled nicely throughout. It was a competitive little race with some Irish contenders and she has ran well to finish 4th. Chauffeur Driven ran a much more promising race to finish second a big step in the right direction. The conditions did get really heavy and it looked hard work which I think was the case for Johannes. Back Yourself did struggle in the conditions also. Rouban was making his stable debut and I think you can say the same for him, he will be much better on a better surface.

In the football, there is plenty of Premier League action taking place with it all kicking off from 12:30pm with Everton against Manchester united and the latter game due to kick off at 5:30pm is Aston Villa at home to Chelsea.  Six Nations rugby action also returns today with Wales against Ireland at 2.15pm and England at home to Scotland at 4.45pm.  A great day of sporting action to look forward to.

Today I learned that if you flip a canoe over you can wear it as a hat...

Because it's cap-sized!

Have a great weekend
