The Cold Strikes Again

It's another day of the weather playing it's part and hopefully we are slowly getting to the end of it! All the scheduled jumps cards today have been abandoned and we are left with action from the all-weather coming from an afternoon card at Lingfield and Chelmsford this evening. No racing in Ireland as Clonmel was abandoned.

Yesterday racing did go ahead at Taunton and we had Saccary who was making his return to the track, he was very enthusiastic throughout which you can expect, but it was great to see him back and he will be able to build on this run further now. 

Yesterday the BHA announced there will be two further fixtures added for Saturday coming from Ffos Las and Chelmsford. Wetherby was called off yesterday so this means the Grade 2 Towton Novices' Chase will now be run at Ffos Las. Newcastle's all-weather card will be moved forward also to 2:02pm, this is to ensure that ITV is able to broadcast racing on Saturday after last weekend's late abandonments led to no action being shown. 

The Hunter Chase at Taunton yesterday provided young Ed Vaughan with a nice winner on Angel's Breath for his father Tim, he'd run at Wadebridge in a point to point at the beginning on December where he finished second to former Pond House face Itacare but went one better than all of his rivals yesterday. Ed had mentioned in his interview that yesterday morning he had to sit an exam and made the dash to Taunton straight after, which I'm sure he's glad paid off!

Last night in the football, Tottenham 1-0 Liverpool in their first leg of the semi-finals in the League Cup and it looked to be a fairly disappointing display by the Premier League leaders. Tottenham's midfielder Rodrigo Bentacur was stretchered off the pitch six minutes into the match after worryingly coming down in the penalty area, it was later confirmed that he was all ok, conscious and will undergo further checks in hospital. 

I have a fear of speed bumps.
