The weather continues to disrupt things as Ludlow has been abandoned this morning following their inspection due to waterlogging. The only jumps action today now comes from Ayr and the all-weather meeting comes from Wolverhampton. There is no racing in Ireland today and the stable have no runners.
It was a quiet and slightly dramatic weekend as the jumps meetings were cancelled on Saturday at Sandown and Wincanton, due to overnight frost. Yesterday, Plumpton were forced to abandon their premier meeting the Sussex National card, it came after the meeting had passed their initial morning inspection but within 2 hours later the heavy rainfall caused disruption to plans and they were forced to abandon.
Chepstow did initially go ahead and we had Shot Boii run in the first race of the card, it's fair to say I think conditions were against him, he has form on soft ground but conditions like that are always a 50/50 whether they would like them. He's back safe and sound which is the most important thing and I think we can ignore this run going forward. The meeting was abandoned after the second race as there were concerns raised by the jockeys.
The exciting young hurdler, The New Lion has been snapped up by JP McManus after former owner, Darren Yates has revealed that he and his wife will be quitting racing and selling their whole string. He looked a star when winning all four of his starts and showed an impressive performance to win the Grade 1 Challow Hurdle at Newbury recently. Darren had already been offered a sum of money for the horse previously, but mentioned he intended to keep him in joint ownership with his wife unless a silly offer came about.
Yesterday in the football, the Liverpool and Manchester United game went ahead and Liverpool never looked to be at their best and the game resulted in a 2-2 draw. Ipswich and Fulham also finished with a 2-2 result. Tonight in the Premier League Wolverhampton vs. Nottingham Forest which kicks off at 8pm.
