It was a quiet day for the stable with no runners yesterday and albeit was dry, it is very cold out and today is another quiet day for us with no runners. The racing action comes from Hereford and Hexham providing the jumps cards with Leicester abandoned earlier in the week due to waterlogging. The all-weather action comes from Kempton with an evening card while in Ireland; they race on the all-weather at Dundalk.
Over at Kempton tonight there is some interest coming from the 7:10pm as Eydon runs for the Andrew Balding stable who finished fourth in the 2,000 Guineas in 2022 and is set to take its chance with Oisin Murphy booked to take the ride fresh from his success in Hong Kong.
Drama came from Musselburgh on Monday as a horse escaped the track during the meeting and roamed the streets. Rufio, who is trained by Gary Rutherford, unseated his amateur rider Lucy Brown at the fourth fence and continued to do an extra circuit before escaping from the course! Thankfully, both horse and rider escaped any injuries and that is the most important thing of all.
Yesterday at Fontwell, Henrietta Knight enjoyed her first jumps winner since 2015 as she has returned back to the training ranks. She had struck on the flat in October, but not yet had a jumps winner since taking her license back out says it's the game she loves. Hollygrove Cha Cha extended her unbeaten record for the Jamie Snowden team and they look to plot a route towards Cheltenham now.
While over at Uttoxeter, Jingko Blue who was last seen pulling up behind Ballyburn in a Grade 1 at the Festival regained his winning streak with a brilliant round of jumping on his chasing debut. It provided an emotional win for the owners who also owns Jango Baie with Henderson, as he sadly lost his son in a car accident and the horses both have the same initials as his son which is something that he didn't even realise at the time when purchasing.
What happens when a strawberry gets run over crossing the street?
A traffic jam!
Happy Wednesday!
