Johannes runs today at Exeter
The racing today comes from Exeter, Sedgefield and Sandown with the jumps cards. While on the flat, there is all-weather action at Newcastle for a late afternoon/early evening fixture. They are back racing in Ireland at Dundalk on the all-weather for an evening card.
We head to one of our local tracks today Exeter, with three runners. Johannes and Final Entry both run in the Handicap Hurdle at 12:25pm, which is for jockeys who have ridden in Pony Races. Rian Corcoran will ride Johannes, he was disappointing on his last two starts, but he is much better than those performances so I think we can put a line through those runs. He's won on soft ground so he will appreciate conditions today.
Ben Bromley will ride final Entry, he ran well last time out and was not beaten by that far, it is hard for juveniles in handicaps. To round up the afternoon Jurancon runs in the 1:35pm Novices’ Hurdle over 2miles ½f with Jack Tudor on board. He put up another smart performance on his second start over hurdles; he has such a likeable attitude and looks to just keep improving, the soft ground won't be a problem.
Yesterday we were at Wincanton and African Lady ran well for a while but just weakened and the ground may not have been to her liking that much. Pachacuti was back to form and he was unlucky to be beaten so close on the line, but it was a real good battle between the two of them from the last fence, and hopefully he'll be back to winning ways soon! Dindin did not enjoy the ground at all and it really turned into hard to work towards the end of the day, but there will be plenty of other days for him.
Bryony Frost will be making the trip over to Ireland to ride Intense Raffles at Navan on Saturday and it will be her first return back to Ireland riding since the 2022 Dublin Racing Festival. She is now retained rider for Simon Munir and Isaac Souede in France and with no racing in France until Sunday connections felt it just fitted right for Bryony to take the ride. Sandown have not ruled out an inspection on Tingle Creek morning tomorrow with forecast of high winds, anything up to 40mph and 50mph with storm Daragh set to take place from Friday afternoon all the way through to Sunday.
Why do we tell actors to "break a leg?"
Because every play has a cast!
Have a great Friday!
