We have three runners at Fontwell this afternoon and stamina looks sure to be at a premium following 20mm of rain overnight at the Sussex track changing the going to heavy (soft in places).  Trop Fort goes in the conditional jockeys novices' hurdle and will be partnered by Conor O'Farrell, while Tom Scudamore will be aboard the Malcolm Denmark owned pair Mr Chow (2m4f handicap hurdle) and Buddy Bolero (2m2 1/2f national hunt flat) who make their debuts for the yard this afternoon.

The Breeders' Cup meeting starts tonight at Churchill Downs in America.  I can't wait for the action to get underway...it is certainly one of my favourite meetings of the year as the European's try to serve it up to the home team at the end of a busy season in their own back yard.  If any of the European's succeed it certainly marks them out as exceptional and I will be hoping that French wonder mare Goldikova can make it an unprecedent four successes at the meeting tomorrow.  They have obviously had some rain ono that side of the pond too, with the ground described as "yielding" on the turf course and "sloppy" on the dirt...you certainly wouldn't ever hear that description over here!  With another 1 1/2 inches of rain expected it sounds as though it will get heavy and even sloppier!

Ryan Moore, William Buick and Frankie Dettori are all in action tonight and it is hardly surprising when you take a look at the prize money on offer - three of the races carry just shy of $700,000 to the winner!  If you can stay awake that long Plum Pretty looks to be the best bet of the night in the 11.30pm race, while John Gosden's Elusive Kate in the 8.50pm looks to be the best chance of a British trained winner.

I see the cricketers involved in the match fixing case were handed out jail sentences yesterday - I hope they were banned from the sport too!  I cannot believe these are the only players to be guilty of rigging, I reckon they are the only ones to be caught.  What I would like to know is how they can possibly appeal when one of them actually pleaded guilty?!  If they appealed to me I would hand out a longer sentence - I know I sound like Judge Jeffreys but you need to make an example to stop it from happening again.
