                 Master Overseer

What a front running performance by Master Overseer and Tom Scu at Chepstow yesterday in the handicap hurdle.  Even when challenged over the last he battled on gamely to see off favourite Gossmoor Yank to record his first success over the smaller obstacles.  He is a real out and out staying chaser and Tom made sure the race was a real test of stamina.  When the mud is flying Master Overseer will always be seen at his best!  He has been a fantastic horse over the years and is the winner of a bumper, three chases and 2 point to points already.  He has had more than his fair of problems and yesterday was in fact his first run since 2nd January when he had finished runner up in the Sussex National.  His last run before that was in the Sussex National in January 2010!  I am pleased to report he seems fine this morning and has come out of the race well which is great news and fingers crossed we can look forward to seeing him in action again, over hurdles or fences in the very near future.

David also had a second yesterday at Warwick with the consistent Shallow Bay who was recording his third second in a row!  Our four year old looked to have the race in safe keeping when rounding the home bend but he was caught over the last by a horse called Dormouse.  It is a shame the winner had not gone into hibernation!  Our boy was giving the winner five pounds and so I am sure Shallow Bay will be winning a race in the near future.  All our runners have returned home safe and sound from yesterday which is the main thing.

They have been looking at the rules for the Grand National and not everyone is going to be happy.  Irish amateur jockey Robbi McNamara is on of those displeased with the changes.  He rode in the race last year but the rules have been change to say that for jockeys to be eligible to ride in the race they must have ridden ten winners over fences.  Robbis has ridden 83 winners but only six of those have been over fences.  This means that even though he has already ridden in the Worlds greatest race he will not be able to ride in it next year.  I can totally understand his frustration as this seems ridicolous to me.  Of course he does have the chance to ride a few more winners over fences before then but it is not always that easy!

Following David's stable tour that was featured in the Racing Post supplement on Monday, the accompanying video featuring a good interview with David as well as plenty of footage from around the yard and on the gallops is now available in our media vault.  Click here to take a look.

It was a great win for Man City away to Villareal last night in the Champions League.  Man Utd also won, had anyone ever heard of there opponents Otelul Galati?!.  Meanwhile in the domestic football Blackpool had a good 5-0 away win at Leeds.  The Blackpool manager is a real character and he would not stop talking after the match!  Its a shame they had to sell a lot of their players when they were relegated from the Premiership last season, it would be great if they could get promoted again this year.
