American Sniper wins at Newbury!
The jumps dominate today with three cards coming from Exeter, Hexham and Fontwell. Just the one flat card today which is all weather action coming from Newcastle this afternoon and In Ireland, the have all weather action at Dundalk this evening.
Yesterday we were at Newbury with just the one runner, American Sniper who put up a game performance to win the Pertempts Qualifier and it was a great front running ride from Jack. He jumped well and the addition of cheekpieces certainly helped and it was great to see him back to winning ways. The Alan King trained Emitom did give it a good battle until the line and did make it a nervous watch in the closing stages!
Today we are at two meetings with two at Fontwell and two more locally to us at Exeter. At Fontwell, we have Ben Lilly who runs in the 2:00pm Handicap Hurdle over 3miles 2f with Gearoid Harney in the saddle. Last time out at Hereford, he looked to find the track a little too sharp, he's run well at Fontwell before so he will handle the track today. Jilaijone runs in the 2:35pm Handicap Hurdle over 2miles 3f with Jack Tudor riding, this does look an open race with only being 4 runners, he has form at the track and he ran a respectable race last time out at Cheltenham, which he will have improved further from that run.
It's Haldon Gold Cup day at Exeter, we have Micronormous who runs in the 3:00pm Mares Handicap Hurdle over 2miles 2½f with Harry Cobden riding, she was a little disappointing in her last two starts, we've added the cheekpieces today and it's a track she likes as she won her bumper here and she does have ability. To finish the day, we have Final Entry who runs in the 4:10pm Handicap Hurdle over 2miles ½f with Tom Bellamy riding, he made his stable debut for us at Newton Abbot where he won and this will be his first run after being gelded. The form of his recent start has worked out well with the two finishing ahead of him where he wasn't beaten that far, have done well since.
Why are mountains so funny?
They're hill areas!
Happy Friday!
