Amy is taking part in a Charity Race!
Another quiet day for the team with no runners. But there is jumps action at Kelso, with the flat meetings at Yarmouth, Beverley and Sandown. In Ireland, they race over jumps at Tramore.
Yesterday there were reports of the Turners Novices' Chase being downgraded from a Grade 1 conditions race to a novice handicap chase at the Cheltenham Festival. The change has come about as they look to revamp the festival programme with hope of increasing the competitiveness. This change doesn't look to be the only one as there is talk the cross country will be reverting to a handicap from a conditions race and horses being required to run more often before being eligible for handicaps. Hopefully changes like this will widen up the festival.
On the 27th October Wincanton Racecourse are holding a charity race for stable staff in memory of Keagan Kirkby, who sadly lost his life when riding in a race point to pointing. The race gives stable staff the chance to ride in a race under rules and experience a race day from the perspective of a jockey. We are thrilled to be taking part in the race with Amy Clark doing the steering for us - who is extremely excited! All 12 riders are raising money towards Racing Welfare who provide such a brilliant service to the racing industry and Amy has done very well to nearly reach her £500 target with still plenty of time left! Even though she has nearly reached her target amount she would like to continue to raise as much money as possible and if you'd like to donate at all to help Amy - big or small we would greatly appreciate it.
