Worcester Monday!

         Mr Tambourine Man runs today!
Jumps racing is back after having a few days off and the sole jumps fixture today is at Worcester, while on the flat there is racing at Thirsk and Windsor and Kempton. In Ireland, they race on the beach at Laytown. 

After a very busy weekend with loads of visitors for National Racehorse Week we are back with 4 runners at Worcester today. Our first runner of the day is Nila in the 3:30pm Maiden Hurdle first division over 2miles with Jack Tudor riding. She returns to action after falling last time out in December. She's a French flat winner and hopefully today can build on her confidence with jumping. Our next runner of the day is Stray Bullet in the 4:00pm in the second division of the Maiden Hurdle with Gearoid Harney riding. He hasn't quite had much luck but he has new headgear on today and hopefully that'll help him. 

In the 4:30pm we then have African Lady for the Mares' Novices' Handicap Hurdle over 2miles 4f with Jack Tudor riding. She ran respectably on stable debut a few weeks back and did give us something to build on. I'm sure young Jack Pipe will be watching closely today to see how she gets on! Lastly we have Mr Tambourine Man in the 5:00pm Handicap Hurdle over 2miles 7f with Jack Tudor in the saddle. He returns to hurdling today after a spin on the flat, where he did not enjoy the heavy conditions, but he has form at Worcester when winning here before. 

Weighing room veteran Franny Norton has announced that he will retire at Chester's final meeting of the season on Saturday. His career has spanned over 36 years and is known as the King of Chester with more victories at the track than any other jockey, after partnering almost 2,000 winners, including three group races and wins in the Ebor and Chester Cup. Going forward he's looking to help support young people from deprived areas and help them break into the racing industry.
