A little quieter today with only four meetings across Britain and Ireland. Catterick, Ffos Las and Chelmsford provide the action in Britain while in Ireland; there is jumps action at Roscommon.

The Shergar Cup takes place on Saturday and there will be an even split of male and female jockeys for the first time. Teenage riding sensation Billy Loughnane is set to make his debut. The teams consist from Europe, Ladies, Rest of the World and Great Britain, Ireland. The Shergar Cup’s all-time leading rider Hayley Turner returns for a 17th appearance, to captain the Ladies team featuring alongside Saffie Osborne and French jockey Marie Velon.

There was a potential future star who ran at Cork yesterday, as Aurora Vega won impressively on her hurdling debut, being a sister to the late Facile Vega I’m sure she’s full of potential after her 14 length victory. She was still green, so she will definitely come on from the experience.

Yesterday in Paris, Great Britain claimed Olympic triathlon mixed team relay bronze after initially announced as silver medallists following a photo finish. The quartet of Alex Yee, Georgia Taylor-Brown, Samuel Dickinson and Beth Potter had jostled with Germany for the lead throughout the race. The officials confirmed just before the medal ceremony that GB won bronze after initially announced them as having won silver, following a review to the photo finish. The women kick-started the the medal charge in the velodrome by winning the sprint gold, they also set a new world record!

In the women's 800m Keely Hodgkinson put up a tough performance to strike gold for team GB, she finally won gold after a few near misses at the global finals. She's still so young and she has loads of time for progression with the series of near misses put to rest in Paris, the world is at her feet!
