We have a couple of runners at Ludlow this afternoon, Bathwick Scanno (ridden by Frank Hayes) and Rainy Champion (Mikey Ennis) in the juvenile hurdle.  It looks like a tight little race with plenty of the runners in with a chance of sorts - hopefully ours will perform creditably and give the lads a nice ride.

I have a couple more pictures from the gallops for you - this time of Shaking Hands and Another Display, as well as old favourite Lough Derg who worked in company with Gentle Ranger.

Sometimes the obvious is not always obvious to me!  Take the bumper at Worcester yesterday - one of the flat's top trainers, Marcus Tregoning had a rare runner in Asked and had gone to the trouble of booking champion jockey A P McCoy for the mount. The thing that put me off was the application of blinkers on a horse that was making her racecourse debut - of course, Asked was a well-backed 9/4 favourite and duly bolted up by eleven lengths...I told you it was obvious!

When will this whip rule be sorted out?  I hope we have some three mile chases on heavy ground soon, then we will have a fair illustration of where these guidelines fail.  I can see there being only one finisher walking up to the winning line - in the end I think punters will grow tired of things and gradually give up betting.  Personally I think all of the jockeys should have carried out their strike threat, that is the quickest way in which this will be sorted out - if there are no jockeys then there is no racing, if there is no racing then the courses will be up in arms as there are no customers, and the bookies will be up in arms as there are no punters...then we will see who controls racing.  Despite being asked to report back before Friday, I think this will be dragged out as long as possible as noone will want to admit liablity for this PR nightmare.

I fell asleep watching the football last night.  At the time Arsenal were drawing with Marseille but I see that Aaron Ramsey scored in the 90th minute to give the Gunners all of the points.  I'm sorry to say it, but I thought that up until the point that I nodded off, Arsenal still looked like a very average side.

Spurs play tonight at home against Rubin Kazan (a Russian team) and if Harry were to put out his first team the 4/5 on offer with Corals would be a standout.  Stoke take on Macabi Tel Aviv and the match will be covered on ITV 4 - I will be watching and the 1/2 looks worth a bet.
