The stable has three runners at Exeter this afternoon, Soulard, Shallow Bay and My Brother Sylvest.  With the uncharacteristic dry weather that we have been having, the ground is pretty quick and consequently there are no big fields.  Even so, we have had a little overnight rain and another shower or two this morning so hopefully that should have just eased the ground a little.

I have a couple more pictures to bring you from the gallops including stable stalwart Lough Derg.  "Douglas" didn't manage to get his head in front last season but showed that he retained his ability with a fantastic run in the fog at Newbury when second behind Big Buck's in the Long Walk, before finishing a close third in a Grade Two race at his beloved Ascot.  He was pictured working in company with Another Display, while I also took a picture of Prince Geeno and Our Father on the gallops.

I was quite amused to see the picture on the front of today's Racing Post.  It shows Richard Hughes, Ryan Moore, Frankie Dettori and Tony McCoy as well as trainer John Gosden and head of the PJA Kevin Darley - they look like the Wild Bunch!  They were in London for a meeting with the BHA about the new whip restrictions that were introduced last Monday after a ten month consultation period.  This will be reviewed in a matter of days with the BHA Review Group ordered to report back no later than Friday!

A few more jockeys will be on their holidays shortly - Joe Fanning, Micky Fenton, Jack Quinlan and Kieron Fox all received bans.  Fanning said that it was only his third whip ban in twenty-two years!

England's cricketers were absolutely slaughtered by the Indians again yesterday and it seems to me that the batsmen are terrified of the Indian spinners.  They block adn poke around until eventually they make a mistake - someone needs to be more aggressive and take the fight to the Indians!

Both Manchester City and United have matches in Europe tonight.  City are at home to Villarreal which is on Sky Sports 2 at 7.45pm, while United are away to Otelul Galati (which I am told is Romania) - they are on Sky Sports 4 at the same time.  Both clubs are long odds-on for success and it means an evening of channel hopping for me - I'm sure the wife will be delighted!
