There is plenty of jumps action to watch today as in Britain we have Chepstow and Huntingdon and in Ireland there is action at Wexford and Down Royal. We have a quiet Sunday with no runners today for the stable.
After an exciting week at Cheltenham it was time to have some rest and recuperation and reflect back on a brilliant week! It was my first year doing the marquee and it was great to finally put faces to names and meet everyone that I had spoken to over the phone or email since joining Pond House. It was a great atmosphere every day and I thoroughly enjoyed it with some great people! Cheltenham will always be a very special place to me as 5 years ago I led up the winner of the triumph hurdle - Pentland Hills! That will always hold as my best days in racing and certainly something I will never forget so it’s always lovely to go back and enjoy the atmosphere and I love watching the winners coming in knowing how special that is! It was great to see the British having a little bit more luck at the festival and even dominating the Thursday with 5 winners out of the 7 races, unfortunately we were unable to win the Prestbury cup this year with Ireland coming back to battle and dominating the final day, but it’s been a great week and some outstanding performances across the festival and only 360 days to go until we can do it all again!
There were due to be two point to point meetings in the west-country today at Ston Easton and Kilworthy but unfortunately they have both be abandoned. British point to pointing has had a torrid time of late with lots of meetings being abandoned. We have been due to run Castle Daragh for the last two week with no joy so fingers crossed it may be third time lucky next weekend! There was point to pointing in Dorset yesterday at Milborne St Andrew, there was some local interest but I don't have any results at the time of writing so will let you know tomorrow if anyone had any winners!
In the football today there are 2 games for the FA Cup quarter finals which are Chelsea Vs. Leicester City with kick off at 12:45pm and Manchester United Vs. Liverpool with kick off at 3:30pm. There is also one premier league match which is West Ham United Vs. Aston Villa who are kicking off at 2:00pm.
I hope you have a lovely Sunday whatever you’re up to!
