After a great weekend of racing on the way things return to little more normality today with just a two jumps meetings at Hereford and Plumpton. No runners from Pond house today, but there is also flat action at Wolverhampton and in Ireland they race at Punchestown over jumps. Heure de Gloire didn’t run badly at Uttoxeter on Saturday. for the majority of the race and jumped well getting a little outpaced but keeping on Steadley for fourth. Unfortunately we were just out of the each way money but it was the best run of the season to date and with a little more help on the handicap, I am sure she can be winning soon.

We actually ended up with no runners at Doncaster on Sunday in the end. Stray bullet suffered a little cut to his leg on Saturday morning which meant he didn’t travel and Paricolor was a late withdrawal, but all is okay and he will be out again soon.

At Cheltenham, there were some shock results in some of the races, but it was a great competitive afternoon of action. Jonbon was probably the most surprise defeat, but a bad mistake at the top of the hill, where he was lucky to stand on his feet did not help his cause. Burdett Road was also beaten in the triumph hurdle trial, I don’t think he showed his true form, but it was a disappointing effort, nonetheless. Tom Bellamy comes and rides out at pond house and I was gutted for him to finish close second on Paisley Park for the third time this season and a very well done to young jockey Freddie Gingell who won his first Grade 1 race at Cheltenham on Saturday. He is only 18 and was a regular on the West Country point to point circuit a couple of years ago learning his trade.

There were no real surprises in the FA Cup fourth round football action over the weekend and there were wins yesterday for Liverpool, Manchester United and wolves to name a few. there is one match this evening Blackburn play Wrexham, 7:30pm kick off.

The England cricket team pulled off a great performance yesterday to win the test match against India. India have made themselves virtually unbeatable at home and it was an excellent performance from Ben Stokes. England team in the field to clinch memorable win in the first test.

Italian tennis player Jannick sinner came from two sets down to win his first grand slam title in Melbourne yesterday beating Daniil Medvedev to be crowned Australian Open, tennis champion.

It was a great weekend of sporting action, and it was a bit difficult to keep up with the door, but I love it!

Larkhill point to point and Milborne St Andrew point to point went ahead over the weekend and there were two cracking days action. No winners for Martin McIntyre but there were lots of runners, people in attendance and competitive races so it is a great weekend. I even saw that Gerry Halliwell Horner was at Larkhill with a runner, the former Spice Girl and her husband Christian Horner had a hunter chaser last year that did well, as she is great, they are loving the grassroots of our sport.

I told a joke during a teams meeting at work today. Nobody laughed.

It turns out I am not even remotely funny!

Happy Monday.
